Overall we enjoyed our 5 day cruise. First sea day the waters were choppy. Didn’t get seasick, so I guess the sea bands worked. Loved the amount of trivia games onboard. It wasn’t that way 2 years ago. The staff couldn’t have been more pleasant. My wish for the Sunshine would be to improve the quality of the food. My other complaint was how cold the ship was. Will probably cruise on the Sunshine again, just won’t be in the winter.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
Got delayed at the terminal. We did our COVID test at Walgreens. Test was negative. Our print out didn’t include our birthdays. I didn’t believe that would be a problem. It wasn’t in the Tampa terminal 30 days earlier. I’m not blaming the staff, they were only doing their job. We were delayed 30- 40 minutes before we were allowed to board.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
We didn’t eat dinner in the MDR, only sea day brunch twice. Didn’t care for either of the meals. The steak was a smaller cut than previous years. Our best meals were from J’s J’s Asian Market. The 15 dollar up charge for dinner was worth the price. Struggled to eat everything cause of the amount of food. Ate dinner at the buffet once, it was ok. The deli was good as usual. Didn’t care for the burger at Guy’s.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Loved the amount of trivia games. 3-4 different type of trivia each day.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Deal or no Deal was enjoyable. Love and Marriage is always hilarious.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Service was excellent. Staff was very polite and helpful . Be aware don’t walk away from your table if you’re not finish with your meal. Staff would be there within seconds to take your empty plate. Twice I had to run back to my table to tell them, I’m not finish with my plate. Room attendants were always greeting you in the hallways, always mentioning your name.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Staff was constantly cleaning. Some difficulty when you’re trying to walk from aft to the front of the ship on the 3rd and 4th decks. You have to go up or down to get around the ship’s restaurant. Had trouble with one of the dyers on the 8th deck. After 3 attempts our clothes were still a little damp.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Bed slept great. Room was smaller than I anticipated. The size of the shower made up for the size of the room. Location of the cabin was great. Close to the elevator and right below the lido deck.
Ship tip
I understand we were cruising out of Charleston in February, but the ship was cold, even the port day in Nassau. Wear or pack a light jacket or hoodie.
Thanks for your review. We are on the Sunshine end of March with this exact itinerary. Like you, we are going to the fish fry row after visiting Junkanoo Beach.
