Embarkation

5 out of 5
Evwrything whent very smoothly. We arrived at the port at 1:15 pm and by 2 o'clock our bags were checked and we were aboard the shp.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The "Anytime Dining" was great. We ended up sitting in the same section each night since the head waiter and his assistant were very attentive, but we ate at different times at night - which suited our schedule. The dinner menu was varied and the food was nicely prepared and presented. The 1st night, the vegetarian offering was an Indian dish - and because I'm an Indian food fan, the waiters arranged for me to have an "off menu" Indian meal several other times and they rivaled some of the best Indian meals I've ever had!

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Used the fitness center; the hot tub, various trivia contests, saw some of the shows - especially the Rock Show as well as attended the Art Auction. On the Sports Square I tried the pool table and was in the Corn Hole contest (came in 2nd). The outdoor activities were marred by the very high winds we suffered most of the cruise. The ship listed so much that playing pool was useless since the balls kept moving on their own. And try throwing a bean bag in 30 mph winds! None of this was the ship's fault, of course, but didn't even try the mini golf because of it.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Went to the "Limelight " comedy club twice. The two comedians were good (they have an 18+ show and a family show). The 18+ shows were fairly disgusting but at least they stayed away from politics which probably would have alienated 1/2 of the audience. Some of the lounge acts ( a Country duo) were fairly tuneless. We heard them while passing to go to dinner and didn't think enough of them to return to listen further. The main shows were very high energy and entertaining.

Children's Programs

No kids.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
This was my wife's 1st cruise. And she is a stickler for cleanliness. She remarked on several occasions how well the ship's staff kept everything immaculate - including, but not limited to the public rest rooms. The cabin steward , Oswald, was quick and not at all intrusive. The wait staff in the restaurant, as I said above, was 1st rate and would be at home in a high quality restaurant.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
I've been on this cruise several times in the past. And while the ships themselves were different (The Fantasy and The Liberty) the layout is basically the same and an older design - which means to get to the dining room on Decks 3 and 4 from the Lido Deck (on deck 9), for example, you have to take the elevator to Deck 5; walk halfway across the ship and take another elevator to Deck 3 or 4 (of course you could also walk down the steps which was not an option for me on this cruise). I knew this at the outset so it wasn't a surprise but still it's a bit annoying. The maintenance and cleanliness of the ship (as I wrote above) were outstanding!

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was fine for 2 people.

Ship tip

There are so many activities each day it's imprtant to plan your day in advance. Also, if it's imprtant to you, buy the "Internet Package" in advance.

Ports of call

Charleston, South Carolina Did not visit port

This was just the embarkation point.

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
We took and independent walking tour. There's not that much to see in the port and we left the 2 hour tour after 1 hour. Nassau has the usual array of jewelry and souvenir shops. On previous trips I took a snorkeling excursion - which I recommend even for 1st timers. We didn't snorkel this time since we planned to do it at Half Moon Cay. But that didn't work out.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island) Did not visit port

Due to high winds, the ship diverted from this port and stopped in Freeport, instead.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very quik and trouble free. Again, from the time out section was ready to disembark to getting our bags and taking the shuttle to our car took less than 45 minutes. Incredible.

Oh no, Freeport instead of half moon cay? That's like switching from Paris to Toledo. Bummer
