Sail Date: March 01, 2014 Ship: Carnival Sunshine Cabin Type: Oceanview Traveled As: Couple Reviewed: 3 years ago
Overall\, not bad. A bit dated even though it was recently refurbished. But rooms were decent size & beds were comfy. The whole ship did seem a little small\, including the size of some of the bars\, eating areas\, etc.\, in comparison to other ships I've been on. Not enough areas to \"get away\" from all the partying and craziness and just relax\, unless it was in your room.
Food and Dining

The sit down dining was excellent\, although it was always a bit too warm in the dining area. The buffets left something to be desired....not much variety\, and they seemed to run out of things very early on. Also\, there was a very poor selection of late night options....hot dogs\, pizza and some bad excuse for a chicken sandwich (one leftover chicken tender from dinner on a bun). The \"Guy's Big Bite\" and the Mexican stand were a nice option\, but not open very late. All the other restaurants charged additional\, which was kind of a disappointment as Italian and Asian should be standard fair. I can understand the steak place charging extra\, but not Italian or Asian. Overall\, the food options and quality\, except for the sit down dining\, were a disappointment in comparison to even past Carnival cruises.

Since this was a spring break cruise\, everything was geared toward kids.....the food\, parties\, movies\, etc. About the only thing that was not kid-friendly was the gambling. A big disappointment for our party as we did not have kids and looked forward to some \"adult\" entertainment (ie. music that was not disco or house music\, etc.)
Service and Staff

Except for the woman \"directing\" the debarking for excursions\, everyone was excellent. Our room steward\, Buddi\, was really nice\, and so was Irwin\, the one waiter in the seating dining area. The woman \"directing\" the debarking for the excursions should be fired. 2000 were pushing and shoving to get off as there was no organized method for the process. People who had excursions really soon after the ship docked were afraid they would miss their tour and should have had priority in getting off. The woman was rude when people were commenting about the lack of process and did nothing to get help to fix it.

Again\, seemed a bit small and lacked some \"private\" areas to get away from all the noise and craziness.

Rooms were a good size for 2 people\, bathroom was also a good size. Also it was nice to have a window to the outside\, and our location was good. Only issue is walls seemed a bit \"thin\" as we could hear the neighbors TV several times.
