Average Service & Ship / Awesome Ports

Sail Date: July 28, 2013

Reviewed: 3 years ago

Traveled As: Family (older children)

Room Type: Balcony

Port stops were breath taking. Ship was OK - the refurb was way over hyped, service was poor / fair at best. There is a reason Carnival is the most popular cruise line, it caters to the masses. The food / service reflect a laisse faire attitude. In my eyes, they have mass merchandised cruising to the point of hum drum. If you are going to Europe and spending the money, make it special and take a smaller, higher end cruise line. Otherwise, be prepared to join the masses and be part of the cattle call.
Ship Quality
Expected more from the refurb. Yawn.
Food and Dining
Food at specialty restaurants was good, dining room food mediocre.
Cabin / Stateroom
Lights out, glass on balcony was filthy.
Service and Staff
Hum drum, lack luster.
Entertainment
Children's Programs
Onboard Activities
Over charged me for a massage.
Destinations and Excursions
Wonderful, favorites were Barcelona, Turkey & Taormino.
Venice, Italy
Too crowded in August.
Dubrovnik, Croatia
Don't accept Euros everywhere, beware.
Messina, Sicily
Taormina was wonderful.
Naples, Italy
Dirty water, dirty city.
Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy
Too crowded in August.
Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy
Cinque Terre was beautiful.
Monte Carlo, Monaco
Didn't go. Went to Athens, a real dump of a city.
Marseille (Provence), France
Yawn, boring. And yes, the French are rude!
Palma De Mallorca, Balearic Islands
Didn't go, went to Turkey, beautiful.
Barcelona, Spain
Beautiful city - visit Las Rambas for sure!

Tip

Go early to fill your bottle with ice / water - ice was out by 7am each morning.
