We had a great time even though we sailed around aimlessly. Humberto couldn’t ruin my vacation!
Embarkation

Brooklyn was a little different than what we have grown accustomed to in Baltimore but we had FTTF so we boarded fairly quickly. The room we waited in to board was hard to hear the announcements in, but there was someone in there to let us know when it was our time to board. Overall, was a good experience

Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Food in the MDR did not disappoint, as always. The dining room was set up a bit strange, especially for breakfast with the breakfast dining being in the back of the ship. You have to cut across deck 5 and through the casino and take the aft elevator down to 3 to get to the breakfast dining. Was a little confusing the first breakfast morning. Of course the Lido deck had its normal restaurants (Guy’s Burger’s, Blue Iguana Cantina, and the buffet.) The Sunrise also has a Lucky Bowl restaurant (which our 15 year-old said was amazing) and a Guy’s Pig and Anchor BBQ. Food was great at the Blue Iguana and the buffet food was hot and fresh every day. Hubby and son ate at the Guy’s Pig and Anchor and weren’t overly impressed but said it was good.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
The Sunrise was re-done very well. The water area for kids was great and the slides were fabulous. Our 5 year old had the best time in the water area. The pools and hot tubs are always crowded, no matter what ship you are on. The ropes course was cool, and the fitness area and fooseball table were fun. We used the mini golf course and had a great time.
Entertainment

The shows on the Sunrise were absolutely amazing. We saw all three shows : Soul Bound, Vintage Pop, and Latin Nights. The performers were so unbelievably talented and took the time after each performance to meet with you after the show. The DJ for the boat, DJ Saxy was awesome as well. What a great personality! She was fun, upbeat, and charismatic! Mikey, our CD was top notch. Her turned the Bermuda cruise to nowhere into the best 6 days on a ship that ever were. We had the best time!
Children's Programs

Our 5-year-old loves going to Camp Ocean. He eats his meals with us and says “I’m ready to go to camp!” We also did Build-A-Bear and the Groove for St. Jude benefit! Our 15-year-old enjoys his camp as well, along with the dive in movies. They both enjoy the arcade too!
Service and Staff

This was our third cruise and I haven’t had a complaint in this department yet. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. Our waiters in the MDR were attentive and had fun with our young child every night by having him dance with them at the end of dinner service each night. They catered to every need and want any of us had. We couldn’t have been more pleased.
Our room steward was nothing short of amazing. He cleaned our room twice a day. Was so thoughtful when our little guy slept in and kept him from completing his morning tasks on two mornings and kept us informed about anything going on during the day.
Everyone was smiling and happy and willing to help wherever they could have. Very friendly.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The dining room was a little choppy but was beautiful. I liked the layout of this ship and the re-design was absolutely beautiful. The ship is very pretty. Everything was clean and very well kept. People could afford to be more careful with their spilling of drinks everywhere. But that’s not on the staff or on Carnival.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The cabin was nicely done. They are the same size as most cabins in most ships but have nice flat panel TV’s on the walls. Our room steward kept our room spotless and tidy and our canter filled with ice because I asked for it one night. It really is the little things.
Ample closet space for 4 and room to store your empty luggage under the bed!
Ship tip
Enjoy it! Life is too short to worry about your port destination. We were on a 6 day trip to Bermuda that went to Charleston, SC and had a GREAT time! It’s all what you make it!!!!
Docked in Brooklyn instead of Manhattan but was still able to see the skyline and Statue of Liberty. Was awesome! My husband and kids have never seen NYC, so I was excited for them!
Thanks for your excellent review... 13 yrs ago I sailed her as the Triumph...my 1st cruise and it was nothing but amazing!
Will be sailing the Sunrise in 25 days out of Norfolk Va. So excited...wanting to see the changes knowing Carnival always make it to be the Best Experience Ever !!!

I Love Myself A Carnival Cruise!
Thanks for the review. I booked fttf on The Sunrise for November. Was your room ready as soon as you boarded and how long did it take you get your luggage?
