Carnival Sunrise is a bad experience. Only two sail and sign kiosk for 3,000 guest and one of the machines were broken the entire ship. They ran out of food, closed stations early on sea and port days, and food was repetitive. Bubbles pass (soda package) could only be redeemed at bars and once they closed it was hard to get a beverage because nothing was open receive one. Excursions were robbery having families pay for beach however when you got off ship they had free beaches that you could have gone too. They don’t even tell you that so your best bet is to wing it. Usually on Carnival ships you could start planning for your next trip but not on Carnival Sunrise.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
Extremely Poor. Soon as you think you went through checkpoint amd ready to board ship they have you sitting to hours before boarding and call you in zones unless you are in a wedding party
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
Main dining room was good, specialty restaurant was fabulous but then again you are paying for it so it should be, and buffet was horrible and repetitive
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Activities were poor and overlapping. If you wanted to do multiple activities in a row you wouldn’t make it in time. No table tennis, only 1 basketball hoop, only two pools(back, front) and the kiddie section was small accommodating ages from 2-6. I was told that my 2yr old wasn’t allowed to have on a swimmer.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Dj needs work. Has to know how to mix and get the crowd hype. Also plays songs to the very end before switching.
Children's Programs

Service and Staff

Everyone in this department greeted you by name and was pleasant
Ship Quality

It was decent
Cabin / Stateroom
1 out of 5
Extremely small and doesn’t accommodate a family of 5. Two king beds put together a bed comes from ceiling in the corner another bed right above where you sleep and then they gave us a rolling trundle. We were packed like sardines in a can. Stewardess Kept room cleaned twice a day every time we left room for breakfast and dinner
Ship tip
If you are looking for a good ship don’t settle for a refurbished ship because it will not be the same regardless of the amount of money a company put into it
Disliked this port. Also did an excursion where they overbooked and had to wait until 2 different groups came back before I could ride ATV’s so in mean time I was waiting at the beach
Thanks for your feedback. I am sorry that you had a horrible time with nearly everything. A couple of tips, cabin sizes are basically the same regardless of how many people you try to squeeze in them. It appears that you’ve cruised before, so that may have been poor planning on your part. With 4-5 people either get a suite or splurge and buy two cabins if you need more space. Definitely research the ports beforehand to save money. A lot of ports have free public beaches. You tube, google, this site and a few others will give you tips to cruise on a budget. As for the lido buffet, I believe ya for the most part. It is redundant food options. But this ship does offer many other free options to mix it up. Hopefully you have a better experience next time if you do a bit more research.
As it was said before, you should’ve done your research and went on a bigger ship! And let loose on the money because you had five people should’ve got a suite, bigger room!!! 🤔🤔🤔🤔🙄🙄
I would suggest research your ports beforehand. I always do and make sure not to book excursions for ports that have free beaches and or a nice port like the one at grand Turk and amber cove. Research will save you lots of money
