Very Nice Crusie by nsmith4982126

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

We had a great Stateroom Steward by the name of Herbert. We also had a outstanding dinning experience with the waiting team of Anthony, Karl and Maritess. They were outstanding and deserved to be rewarded for their efforts.

Overall the cruise was so much fun!! we truly enjoyed our first cruise together. the menu options in the main dining room were so fun to try out the adventurous items. Never ending buffets were tough on our diets but we couldn't complain! Overall the cruise was so much fun!! we truly enjoyed our first cruise together. the menu options in the main dining room were so fun to try out the adventurous items. Never ending buffets were tough on our diets but we couldn't complain! We are already looking into where our next cruise destination will be with Carnival. Loved the elegant nights as well, it was fun to dress up together and take photos.

Relaxing Cruise by averyesmith44

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

This cruise was very relaxing. I loved our room staff and dinning team the best. Rudolph, Ozehan, IMade, IGede, and Laarni were wonderful. I hope people are lucky enough to have them. A tip would be to do your research before the cruise. Learn about 'secret activities' or learn the layout of the cruise ship. People upload YouTube videos about each of the Carnival Boats which are extremely helpful and very informative. I recommend downloading the Carnival app to keep track of activities, view menus, text, and keep up with ship time (since this cruise kept changing times). Every cruise is how you make it- however, the fun team, and staff make each cruise relaxing, memorable, and leaves you wanting another cruise.

Just did the 7 day... by richc33

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Splendor

Just did the 7 day Mexican Riviera cruise!Although we missed 1 port,we still had a blast! Glad it happened close to the port than out in the open. Lee the cruise director made it fun! The staff all around was great and friendly! After reading all these negative post, it amazes me on how many people are just pissed about life! If your car breaks down do you get pissed at yourself for not keeping the maintenance up? Do you charge yourself for missing your destination? We will continue to cruise with Carnival and reccomend it to family and friends.

We were delayed a whole... by stapia

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Splendor

We were delayed a whole day due to engine problems. They refused to give us a refund and said we were free to get off the ship with no refund. If knew we were just going to stay in port the first day I would have just stayed at the Queen Mary.

Waste of money by Meggera47

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

This whole experience was awful. From the time we arrived to the port to be diverted to a different structure off site. To being stuck in the Long Beach harbor for 22 hours with a broken engine. The staff was disengaged and rude. The lack of communication was appalling and the lack of customer service was astonishing. I honestly don't know how this company stays in business.

I love cruising and I... by mmjimenez0728

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Splendor

I love cruising and I was so excited for seven days of relaxation. With that being said, I’ll never cruise on the Splendor again. The ship has too many mechanical problems and five “fun” days at sea sucked! Me and my husband went crazy with so many sea days. Because we had engine trouble we were docked at Long Beach from Saturday to Sunday. One of our port days was cut because of the issues. It would have been nice to get off on three ports instead of two. I would love to do this cruise again but on the new Panorama ship. Carnival only gave everyone a $50 on board credit. Of course they’ll give us a credit we can only spend on their ship. We had multiple problems with our pictures. We noticed our pictures weren’t getting printed and we inquired about the situation three times and received the same answer, “They’ll be updates tomorrow.” Finally my husband got fed up and had to find our pictures himself on their tablet. Then, we didn’t receive all the pictures we ordered. We then ordered the pictures on the USB and on debarkation day they had printed wallets instead of the USB even though I paid the USB price. I’m only giving this a 3 star because we were able to get off at two ports instead of none. The beds and pillows were comfortable and the food in the dinning room is the amazing. Like I said, I’ll never sail on Splendor again.

Only Our Honeymoon Was Better by Mirofur

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

This cruise was a true escape. I never thought of anything else for seven days until it was time to leave. Best vacation since our honeymoon. We were supposed to leave Saturday afternoon but because of mechanical problems we didn't leave until more than 24 hours later. As a result, we never got to see Mazatlan. Very disappointing. What was more disappointing was the way Carnival handled it. They offered us $50 per person plus port charges and taxes totaling $125 for a couple. Considering most couples paid at least $200/day I felt that the cruise line should have deducted one day prorated from everyone's bill for the inconvenience.

Fun but not without suprises by pduclos

We felt the staff was not what we were used to. Seemed unhappy. I've never had to get the attention of the wait staff to get a drink and when I finally got to order a drink he forgot about it.

Delayed Departure. Cancelled Port of Call by GaryP32

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

Typical Carnival cruise. Very consistent in what they provide. Biggest issue was a day late departure due to a maintenance issue which caused the port of Mazatlan to be skipped.

35th Anniversary cruise. Disappointed. Not what we excepted by ne4117

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Splendor / Destination: Mexico

Being this was our 35th Anniversary and we went all out with 10th floor stateroom and drink package. We found the cruise to be some what disappointing for the reasons I have written on in each of the review sections above. I do not like writing negative reviews, however I felt this must be addressed. We understand things happen. However, if there were more communications from the Captain and his crew, in reference to the problem with ship, the rumor mill would not have been so bad. Even the staff had no idea. One staff member said we were moving on the way. This was not accurate. We were still anchored in Los Angeles. Our main concerns were with the way the staff treated us just asking for the receipts due to the issue we had drink package. I actually heard a staff member at the coffee bar complaining about us to her co-worker. When I said I heard you and just give the receipt she finally did. This did not seem to bother her at all. I explained this every time I asked for a drink, no matter whether it was an alcoholic beverage or coffee from the coffee shop. Another issue was being charged taxes on the beverages we had, due to the fact we were stuck in port because of the faulty ship. Then Carnival embarrassed itself by giving out a $50 on board credit, thinking would take care of any complaints. One of the worst issues was skipping the main port of call we wanted to stop at Mazatlan, Mexico. Not much needs to be said. Very disappointed!!! Next was the fact our steward was not up to par, as to referred in the issue with, something as simple as soap. Seemed more concerned about greeting us. We do not believe she told any maintenance personnel about the shower door.

This was the trip of a lifetime. I have never been anywhere and for my first time out to sea it was breathtaking. This was my honeymoon trip and I will be making plans my next one really soon. The crew was amazing. Our housekeeper knew our names before we got on the ship. The shows where fantastic and the food was the best I have ever had. Thank you guys and we look forward to going back
