Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The Steakhouse was superb. Excellent food and service. The Chef's Table was a fabulous culinary experience. I highly recommend it! The MDR was good overall. The Seaday Brunch is very good and the evening meals were good. Service in the MDR was always wonderful. We ate a total of 3 meals at the Lido buffets. Good variety but always a line. Food was tasty and service was friendly.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We used the pool once and its was relaxing (came back early on a port day it wasn't crowded) DH used the gym and said it was very nice. Great equipment, well maintained. Friendly, helpful staff.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
While we did not attend any of the stage shows or comedy clubs we absolutely LOVED the violin trio that entertained in various locations around the ship. These 3 young ladies were incredible ants had a following regardless of where they played.

Children's Programs

No kiddos!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Literally every staff member we encountered was friendly, courteous and went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcomed. Our room steward went above and beyond with any and all of our requests. Our dining room staff made sure we felt like honored guests at every meal. The were a couple times when we ordered a dish that ended up not being to our liking. Our servers quickly whisked them away and brought something else that we thought we would like better. Always with a smile and kind words. We met the Captain at his formal night reception. He was friendly, energetic and genuinely proud of his ship and his crew. He took the time to visit with most of the guests there, answering questions and taking pictures. We met the cruise director at the same event. She was fun and lively, and we really enjoyed her interaction throughout the cruise. We also met the executive chef at Chef's Table dinner. He was extremely proud of his staff and did a wonderful job explaining the intricacies of our meal and how much pride The Culinary staff takes in presenting it. Guest Services were always helpful and friendly. Also the room service was on time and the staff was again very friendly.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I gave this 5 stars because I love the Splendor. Having said that I am no layout expert. But we didn't find anything inconvenient or out of place. The crew was constantly cleaning and maintaining all the common areas. She was a very neat and tidy ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
This is a standard balcony cabin. The beds and bedding are comfortable. Plenty of storage. The only caveat to this room is that it is directly under the bridge. The balcony view is slightly blocked and the window drapes must be closed after sundown to eliminate interior glare. It affects the navigation (there is a sign letting you know. We forgot one evening and the bridge sent security to our room to ask us to close the curtains.....😳.)

Ship tip

Take the time to very to know your crew. They will make the difference between an average experience and an excellent one.

Thank you for posting about the curtains at night. We will be leaving in 3 weeks in room 7208, Same location on the opposite side of boat. . I am kind of bummed out because I was hoping to know when it is daylight in the morning by keeping curtains open. But oh well....

Great review. We sail 25th November Singapore to Sydney where she joins the Carnival Spirit as an Australian based Cruise ship.
