Good way to unplug

Sail Date: August 19, 2012

Overall the Carnival Splendor is not bad. the decor is all about polka dots. My friend (who was a first time cruiser) thought it looked like Vegas.

Pros: the sea; the icecream; the waiters

Cons: the 3 days of sea time. Not enough shore days

Recommends Carnival Splendor? Yes!

Ship Quality
Food and Dining
Dinner options at the Gold Pearl restaurant second seating included: comfort food such as fried chicken (too greasy); escargot\, frog legs\, Chateaubriand\, filet mignon\, lobster tail. Best dessert was warm melting chocolate cake with vanilla icecream.
Cabin / Stateroom
Inner stateroom on the 2nd level; small cramped but doable. Nice and cool air conditioner so we could sleep well at night.
Service and Staff
Our 9 year old son wanted to take Johnathan our waiter home in the luggage! He was really nice to him. On the last dinner\, J made a napkin bunny and a napkin hat for him.
The spectacular shows were always very good and the dancers put a lot of effort into their dancing. Costumes were inventive as well.
Children's Programs
Our 9 year old boy hated Camp Carnival. Our 13 year old boy at first attended Circle C then after meeting a lot of other 13 years olds\, decided to skip it and he hung out with the other kids instead.
