Mexican Rivera cruise
Carnival Splendor Cruise Review to Mexico
Review SummaryWe had traveled with Carnival previously about 5 years ago. Compared to that experience, this time was noticably less. Last cruise was 5 stars every dining room meal without exception. This time, maybe 50% was excellent and the other half was mediocre to fair. Inconsistent food quality, as well as attention by servers.
We heard a regular refrain from other prior Carnival crusiers: 'this must be another cutback" . It is fairly obvious that the economy has hit here too.
The other odd thing about this particular trip was the Cabo San Lucas experience. There is no cruise ship dock here so passengers are shuttled ashore in 35' boats. The cruise used to visit Mazatlan, but does not do so anymore - I think this is due to the crime in that city. So instead we pull out in the evening and do a slow circle overnight for a 2nd day at Cabo. The silly thing about this plan is that Cabo can easily be done in 1 day - they should have given us a 2nd day at Puerto Vallarta, instead.
