The new Carnival Splendor has only been in use a few months when we took our vacation. The lounges, dance clubs, casino were well thought out, but the buffet areas were not so easy to manuver for large crowds. The ship has a strange "pink" theme in it's colour scheme, but after a few days we didn't even notice. The pools were perfect for everyone... they have 3... and the hot tubs added a nice way to finish the day ..they have 5 ( some adults only...NICE). The vegas-Style shows were amazing two of the nights, but a few other nights they used what they call "Fly-Ins"-- comedians and music acts that board the boat in port, stay for their preformance, and debark. Those 3 nights were not as intertaining. We had an amazing trip inspite of the few and far between distractions. The ports-of-call were fun, if only a bit too short. and the staff was far beyond stellar !! Our Fine Dining waiter was the best, and the cruise director, Goose, was a hoot. We never wanted for anything and were treated far above our expectations. We would reccomend this cruise line to anyone, and plan to take one ourselves again in the future.

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Buffet was tough and hard to manage with it's awkard lay-out, but food was good

The big production shows were fantastic, but the fill-in shows on port nights were a bit lacking

Children's Programs

our 9 yr old daughter was bored, even though she fit into age group 9-11 ( so the activities should have been at her level or above.) Our 12 yr old had a blast in her age group.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff far exceeded our expectations !! NO complaints at all, and when we expereinced a problem, we lost our camera... they were beyond helpful. We also had a party memeber get sea-sick, and they were above helpful even @ 11:30 at night !!!

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Strange, dated colour and design for a Brand New boat

Cabin / Stateroom

rooms were amazing !! size of ocean view was perfect... even larger than I expected. Do not use the bunk rooms for 4 people.... our friends did, they were horribly small for 4 people, and not any room for dressing, changing etc.

Late July was too humid.... we'd go earlier next time. People there are the most friendly, fair priced shopping and hey like Americans much more. We were treated great and liked this port best of all.
Don't Miss: PARA-SAILING !!! Fun and well worth the cheep price on the beach of only $25.oo

Don't Miss: We did a dolphin swim there.... kids LOVED it !!

The locals didn't seem to like Americans much.... they didn't "bargin" the prices of items as well, not as much shopping...... but oh boy those wonderful beaches !! Save this last port as your "lay on the beach, swim and tan" day
Don't Miss: THE BEACHES !!

Pros: this cruise was perfect for our mixed age family, Carnival does a great job at keeping everyone entertained

Cons: the camp carnival activities for ages 9-11 were a bit lacking overall
