Worst cruise I've ever been... by deamax

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Spirit

Worst cruise I've ever been on...maybe because it was a sampler but food was bland and lacked variety, staff didn't seem to want to be there with a few exceptions, full of super drunk and aggressive people and nothing was done about it, the ships layout is a rabbit Warren..will never go with Carnival again - they could learn a lot from RCL.

This was our 22nd cruise... by Summerholiday

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Spirit

This was our 22nd cruise with carnival doing both carnival America and Australia.. Have to say besides have our family on board for there first cruise it was just not the same Carnival have cut right back with staff and they work there butts off to try to please .. But Carnival really need to get there act together we have throughly enjoyed each and every cruise except for this one... The buffet food was again average and not worth the visit but barrito bar, guys burgers , salad and sandwich bar was great. You can always find a little something until dinner in the MDR There was a really bad smell of grease in the casino when you walked though from the red frog pub it was to be looked into a few times but nothing was done it was sickening disgusting smell that was there the whole of the trip. We ended up going to the bars for a drink as we couldn’t find a waiter it most of the time was hopeless and just gave up . The penny pinching that Carnival are doing by not enough staff to simple things by not even supplying a pen to fill out a form is only little things but obvious and annoying. We are Diamond and have two long cruises booked for sept, and March but considering canceling and checking out a different cruise line most our owned by carnival but hopefully haven’t gone down the same road it’s not that we didn’t enjoy we loved being with the family which made the cruise .. The islands were lovely as usual Mare, isle of pines , New Caledonia would recommend for first times cruise buddies however maybe with another cruise line would love to stay with Carnival but after the last cruise were not so sure ...

Just arrived back To Sydney... by Kcruze

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Spirit

Just arrived back To Sydney from an 8 night cruise to New Caledonia. We were happy with most of the cruise. We did find that some staff were super friendly right through our trip, where as others started friendly but did notice a decline in their customer service throughout the cruise, which was disappointing. I found the sea days to be a bit much for the time you spent at the islands. Noumea was ok to visit outside of the main city. Isle of pine just spectacular especially for swimming. Mare such an amazing experience, great locals and little beach stalls. I did notice most people that got sick including me , where on the 1st day and last day. You can get travel sick tablets at the customer service desk 2pk for $1au, which saved my holiday. Food was good, unfortunately very repetitive even though you get a different menu in the restaurant each night, it is much the same ingredients. Definitely recommend the nouveau restaurant upstairs for and extra $$$$$. It’s also different food, but well worth it. Bingo was great at $30 for 5 games. We won $450 but probably spent it back on the ship. Karaoke don’t bother , it was faulty and very boring, no atmosphere in that room. All in all I would return but a cruise with more stops .

We recently returned from an... by TheRealAilieJ

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Spirit

We recently returned from an 8 night cruise to New Caledonia from Sydney aboard the Carnival Spirit. Family of 4 (2A, 2C 10 & 8). It was our first cruise and we had an amazing time! The food was great and easily accessible, oodles of entertainment and the staff were lovely and super helpful. Highly recommend purchasing the Faster to the Fun upgrade, as we were onboard and in our room with our luggage within 20 minutes (just after 12pm). FTTF also enabled us to skip the queues for tenders when travelling onshore. Our children loved Camp Ocean, especially as they were placed in groups dependent on their age which meant they didn’t need to be together. They did tell us we could have them grouped together though if we do wished. The only thing I think they could improve is making the app and it’s contents available before you depart (not just as a countdown) and possibly letting you know that in places like Noumea and Mare, you must purchase bus tickets if you want to go anywhere. Aside from that, highly recommend the Carnival Spirit.

Done our first ever cruise... by SusanL23

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Spirit

Done our first ever cruise for 10 nights to Pacific Islands which included, Noumea, Lifou, Mare and Mystery Island. Was an awesome cruise made new friends, the isalnds were perfect, totally loved Mystery Island even got to see the plane land and take off again. The people on the islands are so lovely and friendly. Noumea is a city may not be as nice and the other Islands but was quite interesting. At Noumea did the hop on hop off bus and went to the Aquarium, one of the local shopping centres, had lunch at quiks (bit like hungry jacks), also local morning markets, back at the terminal checked at the markets upstairs, checked out both duty free shops. Lifou: did a local tour for sightseeing and checked out the markets, went swimming, seen a couple turtles at the Jetty when first arrived. Mare: took the tour to Yeleje Beach, amazing water to swim. Checked out the local markets. Mystery Island: checked out the market, went swimming. As for the ship we had great waitstaff, room attendant was amazing and spotless cleaning. Just had an amazing time and able to relax.

The spirit still has it... by chuffy77

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Spirit

The spirit still has it and this was my 5th cruise on this ship. Just spent 11 days doing a back to back. The crew are still unbelievably friendly and helpful. Feels Like coming home to family every time. Did FTTF which is worth the money especially for tendering to islands. Food is still great for what you pay and loved Guys Burgers. Clean and fresh carpets everywhere since the last refurb. Ship is starting to show its age but layout is still very good. Entertainment is good and plentiful and loved the comedy each night. Very happy with this cruise but feel i need to try something different again.

Just got off the Carnival... by jandex

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Spirit

Just got off the Carnival Spirit this morning and had an awesome time. The ship had just been refurbished, so although parts were a bit dated, she was sparkling clean and the new sections, shopping areas, Soul Play, were modern and fresh. The staff on the Spirit are wonderful - so friendly. From room attendants, to bar staff and dining staff, all willing to smile, say hello, and assist with anything. The main dining room was great, staff were always busy, but friendly and engaging and we never had to wait too long for anything. Menu choice was good, lots of choice each night, with regular staples as well as daily specials. The buffet itself was OK, however it was good to have choice during the day between burgers, Mexican, deli style, pizza BBQ, traditional buffet. YOU WILL NOT GO HUNGRY! 😜 My kids also loved the hot chocolate and soft serve ice cream - free 24/7! We went to the specialty restaurant Nouveau on the first night - $45 per head plus a free bottle of wine (1st night special) and the food was really great. Highly recommend this experience- high quality fine dining for a very small price. The entertainment was fabulous some nights and OK on others. The Miss Houdini show is not to be missed, as well as the awesome 80’s night festivities. Great house band - with a wide repertoire from 50’s through to now. My 9 year old son absolutely LOVED kids club - Camp Ocean - he was there for hours each day - and begged to go after breakfast, after lunch and after dinner. One of the great things about kids club is that the venues for the older children vary throughout the ship, so they are not stuck in one room all the time. Ports were great, easy getting off and on the ship - if you don’t book shore excursions, there’s always plenty to do yourself. There was always something going on - Carnival really is the fun ship. Looking forward to experiencing the Splendour when she takes over from the Spirit in 2020.

We've just only got back... by AuSSiETiG3R

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Spirit

We've just only got back today from our cruise to Noumea/Lifou/Isle of Pines, I was completely blown away by how friendly the staff were. There was always plenty of stuff to do and when it came time for dinner in the Empire Restaurant (Level 2 & 3 rear) it was always a pleasure to receive such outstanding service from the waitstaff. During dinnertime they'll put on a mini show for you, and some of the nights there was this guy that had the most AMAZING voice that nailed songs such as "You're The Voice", "Hallelujah", "Bohemian Rhapsody" and on the last night he took on Tina Turner's "Simply The Best" and ABSOLUTELY NAILED IT. Getting on & off the ship at each of the ports was easy - go to the Versailles or Pharaoh's Palace with your family members get a number and when it's called head down to the boat to take you across - don't forget your sign & sail card and passport.. The cabins are a bit small (to be expected) but you don't spend much time in it either to sleep or shower to get ready for dinner. The beds are comfy, but for someone my height (6' 5") they're a bit narrow and don't leave much .. but still get a good night sleep from them. Here's a tip for new travelers: get there a fair bit before boarding time, as you'll be standing in queue a bit. Hand in your bags and get your passports ready because you'll need them throughout the process. Three more checkpoints to go through, border control, then you check in with the cruise staff at the desk .. get your sign & sail cards (also your room key) and through a metal detector and bag scanner and THEN you get to board. On your way in, head to the shore tours desk and book any tours you would like to do, then head up to Lido Deck 9 and grab a bite to eat. After some time the cabins will be ready for you, so drop down and familiarize yourself with how you get to the room and back. For us it was Deck 5 ... 5173, out of the elevators, look for the crystal blue vase, through the doorway and keep walking. You've only got one more important thing to do: muster- check your sign & sail card bottom left as you'll be given a letter what section you need to go to. Once the siren hits, and it is loud, head down and line up, listen to a safety briefing and once you're done ... you're free to roam the ship. Stick up on Deck 9 .. because when she pulls out .. you'll wanna stay up as she sails through the heads .. Another tip: for the tender boat transfers, ensure that you've got everyone together, have your S&S cards and ID together and you're good to go. Isle Of Pines leave it for a bit later as there's a rush for the boats initially. I know there's another group ready to go for today, so I honestly sincerely hope you have heaps of fun, because I know you will. One last tip is read your Fun Times pamphlet, and grab the app it'll show you what's on and where. Mark off things you'd like to do as it'll send notifications when your event is about to happen. Have fun :)

Second cruise on Carnival Spirit... by smurfette64

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Spirit

Second cruise on Carnival Spirit and thoroughly enjoyed it again. This time we cruised from Singapore to Sydney (6-25 June 2018). Ports of call were Phuket, Bali, Komodo Island, Darwin Airlie Beach and Gladstone and we enjoyed each and every one of them. The Carnival Spirit are the best and will stop at nothing to ensure you have a great time. Looking forward to cruising with them again in the future. I have had to add this review to our previous Spirit cruise from 2017 because despite advising ShipMate several times over the previous 2 years since we booked this cruise they still haven't added it to the list

Hi everyone, We have sailed on... by cruizinsayerlors

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Spirit

Hi everyone, We have sailed on the carnival spirit twice now and have 2 cruises booked for 2018, may 3rd 19night Aus/Asia and oct 13th on the legend to Pacific Islands and Fiji. On top of that we are considering a weekend sampler from Melbourne in March, just because! Needless to say we are very happy with Carnival and cannot recommend it enough. The staff in particular are very welcoming and cannot do enough for you. The meal options and selections are above and beyond anything you could possibly need in any ordinary day !! They have a great selection also for those with special dietary requirements inc gluten free. The staff in the empire dining room were wonderful. The service and the efficiency of the whole dining room is really something you have to see to believe. It’s impossible to not keep going back. They are truely amazing and the nicest people you could meet anywhere. The choice in on shore excursions were vast making it hard to choose which one we wanted to do !!!! The room Stewards were fantastic and go out of their way to make sure your time is comfortable and clean. The entertainment is world class !! Pure and simple. These nightly performances were of broadway standard and you would have to pay big $$$ elsewhere to see such talent. Can’t speak highly enough of the level of skill and talent on show. Love it👍 Also the daily options of entertainment, games, sports, gym etc are great and impossible to get around all of them. A suggestion we would recommend is using the Carnival Hub APP whilst onboard. It gives you everything in the palm of your hand. Plan your day and get reminders etc even view dining menus all from your mobile. All in all I’m not sure there’s anything we could fault thus far with our experiences with carnival cruise lines. As mention before we have upcoming cruises booked and honestly are busting out of our skin to get there. We love it and are sure you will to. Happy cruising 🛳🛳✌️👍 From the CruizinSayerlors Check out our Cruizin YouTube channel. Don’t forget to like 👍 and subscribe ✌️ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTwUoTHlyYcxWubAd13Hqvw

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Spirit

Overall Spirit was amazing! Great service!! Great staff !! Great food !! Only disappointment was the lack of entertainment!! Unless you liked trivia or knitting or painting nothing much else was happening, even the evening entertainment was lacking with the highlights of the cruise was from the staff with both the Bailanese and Thai staff performing their traditional dances !! Comedy club was by far the worst as all the comedians wanted to do was ask the audience questions rather than tell jokes . Having said all that we will definitely sail on the Spirit again as everything else was faultless!!

Despite having to avoid 2... by Mintie1981

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Spirit

Despite having to avoid 2 cyclones during our cruise, Carnival have been wonderful the whole trip. They have kept us informed and, whilst ensuring passenger safety, have gone above and beyond to make sure we have a fantastic holiday. Even though it is sad to think that our cruise holiday is coming to an end tomorrow, we leave the ship with so many wonderful memories (and a lot of beautiful photos).
