Our 4th cruise total 3 previous with Carnival. Many family and friends with us this time and many first timers. Some of the disappointments were the camp Carnival hours and service. The staff in the age group my neices were in were short tempered, grumpy and lifeless. Shoes were lost with no apology, the kids who are usually outgoing and easy to occupy just did not want to attend. The hours weren't always convienient. The late dinner seating at times went longer than the camp hours. The pool mid morning became contaminated (someone had an upset stomach) and they simply drained and cleaned it with out attempting to reopen (so the water slide as well was closed). The elevator malfunctioned with a friends 9 year old dtr in it. The staff had no emergent plan when this occurs. It was 20+ minutes she panicked with strangers while they waited for help and poor response by the emergency phone responders who simply thought they were crank callers initally. The complaints were shuffled and a trip to the infirmary was offered. It took alot to get that poor little girl in another elevator. That elevator and another reamined non-working for the rest of the trip making ship movement time consuming. Many toilets not working making bathroom wait times longer near the show and dinner activities. The last evening at 6pm we could not find a bar near the pool or spa open. Breakfast was appealing the first to days but no variety quickly mad it redundant. The show poorest of quality, the dancers were boring and the 2 of 3 comedt shows were boring.

The great aspects were the staff (other that camp carnival toddler age group). Everywhere we went we were acknowledged mostly by name and with a smile. Staff enjoyed the children. The waiters and stewards were top notch compared to our other crusies. The bed linen was to die for..never slept better. The dinig experience fun every night (better than the "vegas style shows") The maitreD Drasko went out of his way to keep our large group together and smiled as I watched many people disgruntled at their seating tear into him as he single handedly made changes to please them. The food was great in all areas. The excursion desk and the pursers desk were always pleasant with good advice.
I would recommend this cruise had it not been for the tramatizing elevator and camp carnival incidents both of those are vacation wrecking events. I was pleased in general, it's a shame a few mistakes relfect so harshly with so many staff members making the extra effort.

Pros: The ports were great, Ixtapa was the best

Cons: Camp carnival very disappointing.
