Carnival Spirit Cruise Review
The Carnival Spirit was all that we expected - plus! The cabins were great - lots of space and for an Alaska cruise, the balcony was a big plus. With the big double windows we had a great view at all times. We have always heard that the big ships don't get you close enough to the glaciers to really see them, but we were within 3/10 of a mile from the glaciers and we were able to view them from our balcony, as our captain turned the boat different directions to allow us all to have a great view. Our dining staff was fantastic. Marijanna and Prito took care of our every whim and it was a lot of fun getting to know them and we loved the dancing they did at the end of each evening. The food was very good and a good selection. My husband is diabetic and there were always sugar free desserts and dining choices for him. Alternative dining on the Lido was very good and gave us a lot of freedom to choose our dining times during the day especially when we were at different ports. The entertainment was great. We enjoyed the diversity in the entertainment and never left disappointed.Steve, the naturalist, kept us informed of whale sightings and other landmarks and animals. The shore excursions were well represented and were well organized.Disembarkation seemed to go pretty smoothly until we arrived at the airport and started looking for our luggage. Some of the luggage trucks were delayed more than an hour and it caused a lot of confusion and some people missed flights. For us personally, this was not a big issue as we were picking up a rental car and staying in the area a few days. The Carnival Spirt is a beautiful ship and even though the cruise was sold out, we never felt crowded. They have done a real good job designing the ship to allow a good flow.
