My family and I went on this three night cruise to the Bahamas on the Carnival Sensation in August 2015. We were pleased overall with the value for the price, which was approximately $2K or the four of us (2 adults, 2 kids ages 13 and 6).
The kids were able to take advantage of the kids' clubs and we were able to enjoy some quality adult time alone. The kids' clubs were often closed, however, or only open for short periods, like 90 minutes at a time. This made it easier to keep our 6-year-old with us, rather than walk him up and back from the 11th floor for shorter times. He did go for longer periods, though. There were after hours parties offered, too, for an additional cost, however, we didn't try any of them.
The food was good, not great, but good. We prefer buffet, casual dining on vacation so we didn't eat in the dining room. Room service options were limited but good.
We also didn't know what to make of the included gratuities on nearly everything. The tips were included on the drinks, the massages, and for the overall staff at the end of the trip. Maybe this was easier on everyone, but I prefer to tip on my own and I would have tipped more.
Overall, the steward won the day. He was friendly and outgoing and always had a smile on his face. This is the face of Carnival we were presented with the most and we were charmed with it.
Getting off the ship was a disaster. We had to stand for nearly an hour, in a room, waiting to be allowed to disembark. It was well after the time we had been told we would be let go. It felt disjointed and unorganized at best.
