Great time!

Sail Date: March 01, 2015

Reviewed: 1 year ago

Traveled As: Singles/Friends

Room Type: Oceanview

This was our first cruise\, so we really didn't have anything to compare it to. We went during college spring break (two college seniors and one \"older\" adult.) We found the staff to be exceptional. The food was fabulous. We really enjoyed our time in the piano bar and thought the entertainment there was outstanding. We didn't care much for the one show we went to (88 Keys.) Overall though\, we had a nice\, relaxing get-away. We hope to go back soon.

Pros: the staff and the piano bar entertainment

Cons: sometimes all the activity around the pool area got a bit annoying.

Recommends Carnival Sensation? Yes!

Ship Quality
It was clean and absolutely fine. The formal dining area was nice. Our cabin was very basic.
Food and Dining
The food on this cruise was exceptional and plentiful. We especially enjoyed the omelette station in the morning and the formal dining (Fantasy) in the evening. We only had to wait to be seated one night out of the four that we were there.
Cabin / Stateroom
Our room was absolutely adequate. It met our basic needs. We wished for a bit larger bathroom\, but really were not unhappy about anything in the room. We didn't take this cruise to spend a lot of time in the room anyway\, so it served its purpose just fine.
Service and Staff
We can't say enough good things about the staff on this ship. Our cabin steward (Randall) was exceptional--very friendly and always helpful. We liked our evening wait staff (led by Maria R) so much\, that we requested them every night. And Christine in the piano bar was so talented\, we went back to see her every night that she was there. We tried other bars and entertainment\, but always ended up in the piano bar. It was great fun.
We could have done without all the activities around the pool. Some were fine and expected... but on our day at sea\, it got to be too much. You couldn't relax because there was always some sort of announcement or activity. Also--we encountered a big problem with the snorkeling excursion! We had no problem getting there and the snorkeling was great. But\, when it was over\, we were basically \"dumped\" by the side of the road and had to find our way back to the ship! No one directed us as to how to get back (take a bus\, grab a cab\, etc.) So--if you go on an excursion\, make sure you know ALL the details about getting there AND getting back. That getting back to the ship thing is a pretty big deal! :)
