Probably won't do again

Room Type: Balcony

Probably would not go again on a cruise. For about the same overall price (cruise\, plane fare\, transfers to the ship)\, you can have a nice trip to the Sandal's Royal Bahamian all inclusive (where you would have more dining choices and a bigger\, nicer room). Really hated the nickel and diming (sodas cost extra and even with a \"unlimited card\" purchase at 30 extra dollars\, that did not include sodas in the stateroom; \"premium\" coffee and sparkling water cost extra too). Also\, the last day we encountered rough seas\, so parts of the ship (including our own cabin balcony) were put off limits. The rolling of the ship for about 24 hours was very unpleasant and limited what you could do. Also\, the ship blew a horn about every minute during this period\, which made it very hard to sleep at night. Of course\, weather is beyond the ship's control\, but this is something that would not impact a land stay at an all inclusive. Ships crew were friendly and tried to be helpful\, but many spoke such limited English that you could not communicate beyond the basics. There was also a lot of contradictory/wrong information. For example\, one night's dining dress was Cruise Elegant\, which was not defined as far as I could find\, so I called Guest Services. The woman told me it meant a tuxedo! I didn't believe that\, so I tried to call the Fantasy dining room at least three times spaced over about 45 minutes. The phone always rang busy. So I tried to call the Stateroom Steward\, and the phone would not do anything - I tried to call that number via the button on the cabin phone over the course of several days for different things\, and it never did work. It turns out the dress code was just long pants. As another example\, they provided you a deck plan to get around the ship\, but there was no explanation of what the spaces were. For example\, it said the Oak Room was on deck XXX\, but it didn't tell you what the Oak Room was. We didn't discover until the last

Pros: Fanatsy Dining Roomm food

Cons: Nickel and diming

Recommends Carnival Sensation? No.

Ship Quality
Never been on a cruise ship before so have nothing to which to compare. Clean and in good repair but very dated looking. With the exception of the Plaza Lounge for comedy shows (at least the night we went)\, it never seemed too crowded.
Food and Dining
Had the Seaview buffet on boarding day for a late lunch (2:30?)\, and it was awful. So bad\, I never ate the buffet again. Ate the rest of the time in the Fantasy Dining Room (anytime seating)\, and the food was very good\, with a good selection\, and generally not crowded. Room service menu too limited.
Cabin / Stateroom
Again\, never been on a cruise\, so maybe this is the way they all are\, but way too small with no storage\, and a very cheap feel - like an old camping trailer. Very hard to regulate the temp of the room. Very limited TV choices and no hard copy channel guide.
Service and Staff
Nice people who worked hard and tried\, but ability was hampered in many cases by very poor English proficiency.
Entertainment
entertainment better than two all-inclusive resorts I've been to\, including a Sandals in the Bahamas. Things scheduled too tightly\, though\, so couldn't do all I wanted to.
