03/2015 Carnival Sensation

Sail Date: March 01, 2015

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

Overall we had a good time, but there were a few issues. The slides and upper deck were closed 3 of the 4 days, cabin restroom smelled of urine, food was just O.K. - dinning room food was good, but the other food areas was more like cafeteria food, no activities (comedy show, bingo, etc) planned early - for the late dinner people, late dinner was TOO late - couldn't enter dinning room till 8:15 and didn't get done till 10:00 pm, way TOO many people onboard (mainly teens & 20 something's), had to wait in line for everything on the ship, the snorkel excursion in Freeport - snorkeling only lasted 20 mins - Crew started the 30 min clock from the time they dropped the anchor, by the time we got in the water we only had about 20 mins (advertisement indicated 45 mins of snorkeling), shopping was only at the resort, drinks at the resort were OVER PRICED and no alcohol. The ship is older, but overhauled in 2011, but it seemed drab. The staff was GREAT - friendly courteous, & attentive!! We'll do another cruise, not sure if it'll be with Carnival.

Ship Quality
The ship seemed drab.
Food and Dining
The food in the dinning room was Good, servers were AWESOME. The food in the other areas of the ship was O.K. - seemed like catateria quality.
Cabin / Stateroom
The cabin was roomy. There was a urine smell in our restroom.
Service and Staff
Randall, our stewart, was AWESOME! All of the staff was attentive, friendly, and kind.
Entertainment
Since we had the late dinner time, we didn't catch too many shows. We caught the last 15 mins of comedy show that seemed good. Didn't care for the "Broadway" type of show. Enjoyed the bingo, but was a little pricey.
Children's Programs N/A
Destinations and Excursions
The Freeport snorkel excursion we took the snorkeling time wasn't long enough. Advertisement said 45 mins, Crew only aloud 30 mins & the clock started when the achor was dropped. The shopping was only in the resort.
Port Canaveral, Florida
Transportation is to/from hotel & then to the ship is expensive and not reliable, if you can find it. We ended up renting a car. This ended up best way to go - we drove around and found a wild life refuge.
Freeport, Grand Bahama Island
The snorkel excursion was too expensive for the little time we were aloud to snorkel, drinks were over priced & no alchol, the only shopping was at the resort.
Nassau, Bahamas
There are ALOT of jewlry stores in Nassau!

Tip

Bring power strip (surge protector). If you want to party, this is the ship for you! If you want to relax, you might want to choose another ship.
