Awesome Cruise

Sail Date: January 04, 2015

Reviewed: 1 year ago

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Suite

My wife and I decided we wanted to take a cruise with our two children, 9 year old boy and 4 year old girl, while they were out of school for the Christmas holidays.  This cruise seemed very convenient for us as it left from Port Canaveral.  The tickets were very reasonably priced.  We found out that we could purchase a drink card that included drinks for us and drinks for the kids.  This was well worth the money spent.  Carnival allows 15 drinks per day per adult which was plenty.  The ports we visited -- Freeport and Nassau -- were very beautiful.  All of the local people were very friendly and we enjoyed shopping in all of the markets.  With regards to our experience on the ship.  Each of the staff members we dealt with went out of their way to see that we had a good time.  I cannot say one bad thing about any employee on the cruise ship.  There was plenty of food to eat -- 24 hours a day.  The food in the restaurants was excellent.  However, the hamburgers, hot dogs, etc. did not seem to be seasoned, however, seasoning is provided.  Our room was beautiful.  When we purchased our tickets, we considered getting a shorter balcony -- which was about $30 per person less -- but we went ahead and got the extended balcony.  The larger balcony DOES make a huge difference.  The children were kept very busy by Carnival, and they looked forward everyday to visiting Camp Carnival.  My wife and I were able to do the things we wanted and never had to worry that the children were not taken care of.

We were back home for 1 day and are already planning our next cruise.  We only have positive things to say about our trip on the Sensation.

The steward is there to take care of anything you need. Fantastic service.
Port Canaveral, Florida
Freeport, Grand Bahama Island
Not a lot to do at Port Canaveral. The markets are very close to the ship. Plan to do most of your sight seeing, etc at Nassau. The people in Freeport are very friendly.
Nassau, Bahamas
We actually did not go on any excursions. We love shopping -- which there are TONS of shops -- and Junkanoo Beach is within walking distance. We had plenty to do.

Tip

Be sure to take an iron with you. We figured there would be irons provided in each room. We found out after we got on the ship that there is a place on the ship where you can go and iron clothes. Of course, there is a wait. Next time, we will take our own iron.
