A terrible Anniversary cruise

Sail Date: October 07, 2012

Reviewed: 4 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

This was not our first Carnival Cruise. We are Gold Card Cruisers. This cruise started off on the wrong foot. The lady who had to wheel me up to the ship had such a long way uphill to push my wheel chair that she had to have assistance. It made me feel so bad that I wanted to forget the cruise and go home-not a good way to celebrate an anniversary

Pros: Serenity Deck for Adults and Service; best meal was breakfast

Cons: Elevators not working; one show too risqu so never went back; music too loud while dining; Port Canaveral distance from dock to ship too long for disabled even in wheel chair for pushing food in dining room inferior; food on Lido Deck too spicy; no assistance carrying plate to table( disabled)

Recommends Carnival Sensation? No.

Ship Quality
The Ships accessibility was very poor. Most of the time at least too banks of elevators were not operable. We didn't even know that there was a serenity deck for adults. We had to find it ourselves. When we finally discovered it\, we had to listen to the same blaring music they were playing pool side-not very serene.
Cabin / Stateroom
Our stateroom was always in excellent condition. The stewards were well trained\, very hospitable\, and always available
Food and Dining
Dining room food was inferior. Example: prime rib on 4 meals on our table had to be changed due to poor quality. Meatloaf looked and tasted like ground up poor prime rib. Not one person who ordered it at table was able to eat it. However the waiters really apologized and could not do enough to please us. They even gave us one birthday party and 2 anniversary parties at our table.
Service and Staff
All the ships crew was great with the exception of the cruise director. Some of his language around children was unacceptable and unprofessional.
Entertainment
We walked out on one show that was attended by many children\, when all of a sudden the dancers started to disrobe. We were embarrassed for the children. Even the jokes told by the Cruise Director were risqu.
