Sub-Par cruise on Carnival Sensation

Sail Date: September 04, 2011

Reviewed: 5 years ago

Traveled As: Family (older children)

Room Type: Suite

As a previous cruiser we've noticed Carnival level of service, on the whole, has been declining everytime we board one of their ships. Regarding the Sensation, outside the main musical, the musicians were the worse we've ever seen. The food was decent, as expected, but we were disappointed to see they didn't offer salmon in the Lido like they do on all of their other ships we've been on. We felt we were treated like cattle on multiple occasions. The crew on the Sensation has put a real bad taste in our mouths against future cruises with them and Carnival.

Pros: cabin/ room service

Cons: poor service by rest of the staff

Recommends Carnival Sensation? No.

Service and Staff
Clearly lacking in this department.
I think we've seen or heard from the cruise director maybe 4 times the entire cruise. The specials from the spa did not meet our previous levels of experience.
Ship Quality
For its age, it was well maintained. No hair dryers to be found.
Food and Dining
Food was decent but the service in the Fantasy dining room was the slowest we've ever seen.
Children's Programs
Our teenagers, 15 and 17, were slightly bored with activities on the O2 room.
Cabin / Stateroom
We've appreciated what Lilia, our steward, has done to our room the entire cruise.
Nassau, Bahamas
Atlantis..highly overpriced and over-rated! what a disappointment! Also, during the drive to Atlantis you'll notice that Nassau has a road-facade during the route of travel. But if you'll look past the buildings you'll see the real country, poor, devastated by the hurricane, and poorly maintained. We actually felt sorry for the locals.
Don't Miss: None that I can comment on.
Freeport, Grand Bahama Island
If you don't know where you're going and don't get away from the swarm of "shops" at the immediate port you're missing out. And to get transportation away from the port is a hassle. The locals are only interested in your money.
Don't Miss: Port Lucaya..worth the short drive to see the real Freeport, away from the docking port.
