Fun cruise

Sail Date: August 14, 2011

Reviewed: 5 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Inside

The ship was older but well maintained. The service was professional, but lacked in the interpersonal communications that I had previously experienced. This was my third Carnival cruise. On my previous two, my room steward knew me by name after the first hour on the ship and was always saying hello everytime we were near the room, asking if we needed anything. On the Sensation, the staff did a fine job of cleaning, just didnt seem as friendly.

Pros: Food

Cons: service not as personal as previous cruises

Recommends Carnival Sensation? No.

Ship Quality
The ship was clean, but lacked some of the technology of the other ships, such as checking your sign and sail account on the TV in your stateroom, and looking for photographs on the computer by your folio number.
Food and Dining
The food was good, but the menu in the formal dining room seemed smaller than previous cruises. Our waiter was polite and professional, but no interaction with us like past trips.
Cabin / Stateroom
We had an interior room, same size as usual, but unfortunately we had what I believe was a handicap bathroom. There was not any enclosure to the shower, so water ran around the entire bathroom floor when showering.
Service and Staff
Everybody was polite and professional, no real above and beyond.
Entertainment
The photos were nice as always, we loved the comedy shows.
Nassau, Bahamas
Again the excursion we planned to a hotel resort was cancelled due to too little participation, so we went to the Blue Lagoon and loved it. Nice beach, clear water, water toys, and hammocks. The lunch provided was very basic. The dolphin encounter at Blue Lagoon was awesome. Even though we didn't purchase tickets, they allowed us to watch from close by, close enough to see the dolphin activity without obstruction.
Freeport, Grand Bahama Island
we planned an excursion that was cancelled due to not meeting the minimum amount of people, so we just took a taxi to Port Lucaya and had a lot of fun. 5$ per person for a taxi ride to the shopping area and a public beach, had a lot of fun. Unfortunately, the rest of the area along the way looked pretty run down, a lot of closed up businesses.
