Small room, lousy food

Sail Date: May 01, 2011

Reviewed: 5 years ago

Traveled As: Family w/older children

Room Type: Inside

Cruise was cheap, so what do I expect? Here's what you get: lousy food except for one meal on the "formal" night, a shower that leaked all over the floor in the bathroom, a room totally inadequate for three people with nowhere for anyone to sit except on a bed, total lack of organization (for example try to find out when a movie starts on the room says they start every 3 hours, but in reality one movie might start at 1:00, another a 4:00, another at 5:30. The actual starting times should be printed on the daily schedule. Even the customer service deck had trouble finding out when they started), ship lacks adequate public restrooms outside of the regular rooms, ports were boring with little other than tourist traps within walking distance of the ship, casino didn't allow anyone to get enought to be able to play a llittle bit and enjoy themselves, all the machines did is take, take, take, take to make money for the ship. Also the drinks prices were absurd @ about $10.00 each by the time you add in tip and taxes. It actually was a cheap cruise that turned out NOT to be very cheap by the time they figured out every possible way to rip you off. We have travelled on many cruises and this was the WORST to date.

Pros: Getting off the ship at the end!

Cons: Food was lousy, shower leaked all over floor, room totally inadequate for 3 people, casino robbed everyone allowing no one to win

Recommends Carnival Sensation? No.

Ship Quality
Not enough public restrooms on ship in public areas and restaurant areas. Too few hand sanitation dispensers on ship. No trash recepticals near common areas. Room size impossibly small for three adult sized people.
Food and Dining
One meal in the dining room was good. That was the "formal" night lobster and tiger shrimp meal. The others were bland, tasteless and unappealing.
Service and Staff
In most cases, they tried, but it was not their fault that the cruise was in many ways poorly organized and staff not trained enought to smile at cruisers and acknowledge their presence. When you walked past staff members in public areas, they just walked past you and didn't even acknowledge that you were aboard and paying their wages. One time two "officers", a male and a female who were so engaged in their own private conversation practically ran us over without even saying "I'm sorry".
Cabin / Stateroom
Stateroom (cell) was way too small for 3 adult sized people. Grandson was forced to sleep on a roll-away that was left up all day blocking any walk area in the room. Wife stubbed toe several times while trying to navigate the10" walk-way between the beds in the middle of the night. Toe still hurts. One chair was crammed into a corner where you couldn't use it, shower leaked all over the adjacent bath floor despite two drains. Far from comfortable!
Ah, a bright spot...the dancers and singers in the stage show were wonderful and we saw two very nice shows. The Cruise director did a great job with the "Love and Marriage" show. It was great fun.

Be sure to visit Atlantis Resort.
Don't Miss: See Atlantis.
