A successful first cruise

Sail Date: May 16, 2010

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

We had first rate service, however having to pay for even a soda we felt was just taking advantage of pinching every single penny out of us. We enjoyed the shore excursions. Most of the shows were very entertaining, however we would have liked to have had more choices and variety to choose from. Our traveling partners have been on several cruises before and we could not help but compare from their past experiences. It was nice, however with all the cut backs we feel we might have done better on a different cruise line.

Pros: I felt like we were traveling first class all the way

Cons: all the extra expenses

Recommends Carnival Sensation? No.

Ship Quality

Everything was clean. However the layout of the ship was choppy and difficult to find your way around. We would have to walk into a restaurant and around to get to the main hallways. It was not the best layouts.
Food and Dining
Was not overly happy with the buffets, but the sit down dining was excellent. The service from our waiter was way beyond out expectations.
We enjoy the entertainment in Vegas much more and a better cost value. There was not enough variety or option choices.
Cabin / Stateroom
The bed was comfortable, the room was spacious enough, there was plenty of room for our belongings. There was NO hairdryer. The decor seemed outdated, but very clean. We were the last two rooms at the back of the ship which meant a lot of extra walking to get anywhere we wanted to go. I'd recommend getting more middle of the ship.
Service and Staff
Our room steward and our dinner waiter were both excellent.
Nassau, Bahamas
The horse carriage tour was a bargain and a great way to find your way around. The straw market was a dissapointment because it did not have enough room to make your way through the isles and basically the same products throughout the entire market. They are building a new building so hopefully it will be roomier.
Don't Miss: Parasailing was excellent and I would do again.
Freeport, Grand Bahama Island
There is not much to see unless you already have shore excursions scheduled. The harbor shopping was expensive and a disappointment on variety & price. We enjoyed the Peterson Cay excursion, but not a spectuclar underwater view.
