Our "first" but not last cruise

Sail Date: April 23, 2009

Reviewed: 7 years ago

Traveled As: Family (older children)

Room Type: Oceanview

We found out after booking that the ship was going in for renovations in January before our April cruise. Everything was clean and looked festive.

Pros: The wonderful staff and service

Cons: Nothing

Recommends Carnival Sensation? Yes!

Ship Quality
The public areas were constantly being cleaned after guests including the restrooms. We were advised to book our stateroom close to the stairways and elevators, so maneuvering each deck was very easy.
Food and Dining
The food was good. We enjoyed dinner in the dining room each evening and the waitstaff was fantastic. For breakfast and lunch, we took advantage of the great buffets.
Cabin / Stateroom
For a family of four, our stateroom was roomier than anticipated with room to move easily. Storage was ample. The renovated bath was a definate plus and much larger than we had thought it would be.
Service and Staff
Augustinos was our cabin man...he is a true asset for Carnival. All staff acknowledged and smiled when passing. Very comfortable feeling.
Entertainment
We enjoyed all three night's shows in the Fantasia Lounge...even our 14 year old came back from the kid's club to be with us and enjoy. The pool activities were fun and we even won a little bit on the lottery scratch offs...wish we had won the free cruise...oh well...next time. Hairy chest contest the funniest I've seen in a while.
Children's Programs
Our 14 year old was a little shy at first, but by the second day he was all for the neato digital scavenger hunt and dancing that went on until the wee hours. It was nice to know he was okay and we could still enjoy ourselves as well.
Nassau, Bahamas
We opted to venture on our own instead of an excursion. Did quite a bit of shopping and came back to the ship to continue relaxing at the pool and get ready for formal night.
