Fun cruise! by Sla122002

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Great cruise for the most part. Wish we could of gone to Grand Turk, but it was out of Carnival control. There's a lot to do on the ship so prepare your week accordingly!

We got to see a piece of heaven on earth by sg5353

Best part of the cruise was Grand Turk, Loved the beautiful blue water and white sand beach.  All the stops should be more like Grand Turk.  I loved the white sand beach against the dark blue water.  The Yerk Chicken at the beach grill is a must have.  Just great.

Pride Jun 11 - 18 by DMunker

I loved the balcony and just watching the water, sunrise and sunset. I heard one of the engines weren't working right and the sway of the ship got me on the second day at sea. The MDR 3rd floor in the back right, table for two felt like we were sitting on the engines. Horrible vibrations. Would like one pool you could walk into.

Never again by sarver5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We were so excited to take our very first cruise for our 30th wedding anniversary. Imagine our disappointment when food was left laying on the edges, only to be swept behind pillars, bathrooms were dirty and pieces of the ship were missing. We saved and paid a lot of money to be able to have this experience and have a wonderful anniversary.  Disappointed doesn't even begin to describe it. Attached is a picture of the outside of the ship with a piece of the roof missing.  I can't imagine ever wanting to cruise again, let alone on a carnival ship.  The Carnival Pride is nothing to be "Proud" of.

Cruise fun by Petersenrd

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our 5 day cruise was fun and relaxing. The staff was kind, informative, and did a great job. We spent a night under the stars watching a movie with other cruisers poolside that was fun. The best hamburger we have ever had was at Guy's burgers and the buffet had so much to choose from we found ourselves eating way to much. The weather was good every day and we spent a lot of time relaxing looking out over the amazing deep blue ocean. The submarine trip in Cozumel, Mexico was more than we expected, the reef was beautiful with lobsters seen, at 100 feet we saw the wall drop off to unknown depth and a surprise came into view that I don't want to reveal so it will be a surprise for you. We would recommend this cruise.

January journeys cruise by Cruiser606

The ship is beautiful.   A lot of retired folks on this cruise.  Not a lot to do on sea days during day.  Excellent dining room staff.  Maitre'd was best we ever had.

I was well pleased with the service on and off board of the ship. Didn't think there was enough entertainment tho. The burgers up on the lido deck where out of this world

I just took pictures by elgrandeguy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group

I didn't go on this cruise, I took pictures of the ship when it was at port.  What else should a South Dakota resident do when he has free time in Florida?  All the stuff below this is bogus so don't pay any attention to it.

Very good cruise - excellent value by artmeneian

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was a very good cruise with excellent ports of call, terrific staff and delicious meals.  Expensive meats like prime rib, lamb and lobster was on the menu.  The ship is great with lots of activities and lots of quiet places if you just want to curl up with a book.

The only thing that soured me was that they allow smoking in the casino, and the place stinks of smoke.  As a result I did not spend any time at the casino.

Not a Ship-Shape! by sandy304

Mechanical problems caused not docking at Freeport. We were given monetary credit for our next cruise. Ship activities were sparse but the trip was enjoyable.

Relaxing, price valued cruise by PrideCruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was our fifth sailing with Carnival Cruise Line's Pride. Once again, a relaxing cruise experience.  Every ship member we encountered was courteous, friendly, and very professional, many quickly learning our names and addressing as such ... a nice personal touch.  Sailing out of Baltimore is a snap IF you have the proper documentation and identification.  Food service, in both the grill and dining room, was wonderful with plenty of meal variety.  Reading other negative reviews, I can't understand what some people are expecting ???  For the price of this cruise, it more then met our expectations.  Anyone who went hungry .. shame on them for it was their own fault.  Great cruise for relaxing but if you wanted to go ashore you have to do your homework and search out activities in port.  Excursions were still a bit over priced.  Carnival needs to sharpen its pencil and find more short, cost effective beach excursions for those passengers who cruise south in search of a warm, sunny beach to relax on.  Balmoral Island needs more shade! Nassau has a public beach which has been cleaned up since we last visited.  Freeport has a nice little dock side area which appears to be undergoing improvements and upgrades for those who elect to stay close by but still leave the ship.  Room service onboard was exceptional ... stewards worked very hard to meet our every need.  Evening entertainment was very good, featuring so many young talents who sing and dance their hearts out to please the audience.  Casino was a bit smoky for those who elect to play.  And do people really win .... you bet. One customer won a new BMW on a slot machine but elected to take the cash equivalent.  ONLY complaint from me is that the Sushi Bar was discontinued in lieu of some little snack food Taste Bar .... no comparison.  We need the Sushi Bar reinstated !  All in all it was a very cost effective and relaxing vacation away from the snow and ice of home.

Wonderful time by Melimmy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

We had a wonderful time on the carnival pride. The food, alcohol, and staff were out of this world. I do no have a negative thing to say about the cruise itself. I was not happy with the CoCo beach excursion but I know that is not carnival's fault. Special thanks to Kirk, Robin, Sassy, Levi and Rossana. We had a wonderful time.

too much time in fl, not enough in bahamas by meggles2u

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

the cruise was nice. all of the staff were absolutely wonderful. so many reviews said food was terrible but all 6 of us thought it was great. definitely take the time to go to davids steakhouse. it is worth the $35 for sure! i did feel bored often bc there didn't seem to be enough activities on the ship during the down time and sea days, but a cruise is what you make of it. we definitely had way too much time in port canaveral and not nearly enough in the bahamas. we took it SO slow to get to florida, making it a two sea day trip down, but booked it back from freeport and only had one sea day with lots of turbulence (is it still turbulence when youre on the ocean? i dont know but you know what i mean!) :) nassau was nice but when we were done our excursion all of the shops were closed so we had not much choice but to go back to the ship. freeport was beautiful and we DEFINITELY did not have enough time there. not at all. the people of freeport were the nicest yet. we absolutely loved it there. if i can recommend ANYTHING to carnival, it would be to extend the time in port at freeport. the shows on ship were ok. the lead female singer was no very good and we all agreed on that. there was a man who did motown one night and he was great. the comedians were very good too. he picked on everyone in the front row so i felt bad for them but still laughed very hard. :) our room was a typical stateroom. we did have a balcony with an obstructed view but we rarely used it. its just nice to have as an option. waiting for the dining room on some nights was long bc we did the your time dining, but it was always worth the wait. our waiter, nandalall was awesome! food on deck 9 (lido) was very good as well, so you have very good options. we mainly did breakfast in our stateroom (continental type) and would venture up to lido deck for buffet, but never went to the dining room so i can say one way or the other for breakfast there. one complaint other than the times in port, is the pools were not both open at the same time so everyone had to cram into one pool. they opened the outdoor pool when it was freezing and had the indoor pool open when it was HOT (still in the bahamas). on the last day they opened the outdoor pool only and my husband said he thought it was to keep the families with kids inside spending money, which i have to agree that sounded like a good explanation. :/ all in all, i love cruising, no matter what. the ship is nice and teh staff is wonderful. food was great as well. :)

I just got back from my third cruise... by LeVoyageur

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

I just got back from my third cruise on the Carnival Pride [30 cruises total). The Captain had to buck head winds of 45kn on the way back and I think at times he was going 26kn -- whoosh! Upon arrival -- it was cold. 23 degrees with wind chill in the teens. Certainly a difference from Nassau and Freeport. In Nassau, where we stayed longer than a usual port stop, early people got off while some waited for later tours. Then something happened in town. There was a gas leak at the dock and the Nassau police closed the street. Passengers could not get off or on the ship for 1.5 hrs. Many missed tours. A propane tank on a dock tug had sprung a leak. It took a very long time to find the source. The fix was to open the valve and vent all the gas to the air. Shop owners were trying to get passengers to stop smoking in the streets -- many didn't pay attention. I had booked an inside cabin but when I arrived at the terminal, I was upgraded to a very large balcony suite with 3 sinks, whirlpool/tub, dressing room with vanity, 6 closets, dimmer control lights, sofa, etc. All this for one person (I travel solo). Probably next time they will upgrade me to a hammock on deck minus 1. The ship seemed pretty full. This cruise was their"cheepie" of the year due the cold of February and the Super Bowl at the same time. But for the football inclined, the Super Bowl was on TV all over the ship -- main theater, sports bar, lounges, and cabins. It was good to see the Redskins win (was I watching an old video tape????) BTW -- If you haven't done the free steam rooms on the Carnival ships, you are really missing something. I took one a day. There great! The Carnival Pride is not the biggest ship in the line. It supports a little over 2000 passengers and close to 1000 crew, yet it is a large ship and is well decorated in a neo-Renaissance style -- which the men seem to enjoy. There is elegant dining in the MDR plus a fancy "in the funnel" $30 extra steak house. There is a Serenity area for those who want to get away from the crowds and the fitness center is well equipped with video treadmills and other equipment; plus a large community hot tub. Beside the steam rooms (male female) that I mentioned before there are gender saunas. There is a large theater that was never crowded, but the Comedy Club shows were over attended. Casino employees always smile as they take your money and the slot machines are programmed to laugh at you. Carnival menus are basically the same on most of the ships. Menus were updated towards the end of last year. They are quite good and have enough variety for all. The ship has a long way to go to reach the Bahamas and stops at Port Canaveral before it reaches Nassau and Freeport; from which it leaves early in the afternoon on a long race back to Baltimore for a 9am docking. Parking at the port is $15/day, but for about the same price you can get a hotel room for the night before where they allow 8 day free parking, transportation to and from the ship, and a great breakfast. Consider it! This is a great port for those mid-Atlantic and North Eastern cruisers who might like to drive (even some Canadians drove) and not fly to Florida. Carnival does hike the prices a little to take some of your saved air fare and there are probably better destination ports offered from Florida. The port is only 27 miles from my house, but I only take the Pride once a year, opting for other cruises from Florida (3 ports), New Orleans, San Juan, San Diego, Long Beach/San Pedro, Omaha, and Anchorage (Whittier). Current Cruise Director is low keyed (much better than other caffinated CDs) and shipboard activities are abundant and varied. Carnival on board staff is always nice. No "attitude"; here. - LeVoyageur (Greenbelt, Maryland)
