Good Bang for the Buck by AlbaCrush

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We enjoyed our 5 day cruise on the Pride. The ship has many updates and was always clean. The shows in the Taj Mahal were outstanding and the only highlight when it came to entertainment. IMO,The Hasbro Show was a waste of time.

There were many dining options. Guy's Burgers is a must. We loved the burgers and always had one when  we returned from our port visits. The MDR food was good to average. We were a little disappointed that they didn't serve lobster on the elegant night. I was told that they only serve it on 7 days cruises. We also tried Bonsai Sushi on the last night and it was worth the extra cost.

Not the best Thanksgiving vacations by vmuryhin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

1. Was pretty cold for using pools Ship is pretty old inside and outside and does not have modern innovations such as flat screen TVs and TV panels in hall ways with schedules and information.

2. Stop for whole day in Charleston, S.C. at 50 degrees was just time killer. Better to go south and spend day in the see.

3. On Cocoa Beach stop only visiting Cape Canaveral might be valuable. To go to Orlando to Disney parks for only 5-6 hours in the busiest time with double pay is total waste of money. Cocoa Beach Village is nice, but absolutely nothing to see, only shopping. To get there you have to pay. Never go there again. Better stay on the ship. Definitely it was too cold and windy on the beach and no way to get there from ship by walking. Total waste of that day too.

4. Nassau, Bahamas. Water wasn't warm to really enjoy the south. Do not know how people did snorkeling and swimming with dolphins. There are not so much to do in the city other than going to a beach. The biggest concern there is lack of time, only half of a day.

5. Freeport, Bahamas. No beach at all!!! Have to take a tour for $20 to get to a beach. That tour included ONLY 2 hours being on the beach. Drinks are not included and you have to pay $7-$9 to do not be thirsty.

6. There is "prohibition era" on the ship. At first, security confiscated 6 bottles of water we wanted to bring with us. That is too crazy for air plains, but how that can be justified for huge ocean-size ship? Bottle of water on the ship costs about $4, simple cocktail about $9. No free vine at dinner time. The most crazy part that you CAN purchase ANY alcohol in duty-free shop, but they will give it to you only on the last day morning.

7. Near Bahamas, when it was pretty warm ship was running with speed about 20 kts. When we get back and it was already cold it was cruising with a speed of about 10-11 kts.

8. Food options were pretty weak. Once I was up to pizza, but had to stay in line and by not knowing how long I have to wait I quit. Later heard some people complained about horrible pizzas. There was a situation when they were out of sanitizer on the entrance. No control over that at all.

9. Entertainment was also pretty weak. I assume the ship was not big enough for that. However I've noticed extremely bad planning. People couldn't get in to a magician presentation because he did it in a small room. One comedian was nice guy, but horrible comedian. Never saw "Comedy Club" before, but it sucked there.

10. Child care was pretty good. Probably the best thing on the ship.

Conclusion

That cruise cost us about the same money as our last trip to Mexico with better services, better food options, free drinks and free beach when you want.

Trip from Baltimore has to be done only in the summer, when it is warm whole cruising time and you do not hiding in your cabin the half of the time of your cruse.

To sea and NOT to see... by karinhougaard

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

In general:

Had a great time - barring a few issues with regards to our cabin which I will point out in the section about the stateroom we booked.

STAFF

The staff on the Pride is excellent and albeit a large vessel, it never felt crowded.

Excellent Cruise by locomom533

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We choose this cruise for our Honeymoon because I had cruised with Carnival before. My husband loved it! The crew were extremely friendly and the ship was very clean, the crew was always cleaning. There was a huge selection of food to chose from on the Ledo deck. The dining room staff was very professional and friendly. The only port we were not thrilled with was Freeport, not because of our excursion, that was fantastic, the time there was very short and the port was not very appealing to look at, it look like a refinery. Grand Turks and Half Moon Cay were extremely enjoyable and beautiful, we wished we had more time there. We are both looking forward to our next cruise which we will be booking with Cruises Only, we received a GREAT deal with the ability to acquire an upgrade at no extra charge with the help of Cruises Only! A good friend of mine recommended Cruises Only and I have already recommended them to another bride to be.

Great Trip! by CruisinVicki

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Carnival Pride is one of my favorite ships. I love the size. Not too big, not too little. This was our fourth cruise on the Pride with a few changes positive and some negative, but, all in all still a great ship. Embarkation in the Tampa port was smooth. We were traveling with another couple and after getting our sign and sail cards, realized our dinner seating wasn't together. The maitre d' informed us we were not "linked together" by our travel agent. (Who, BTW, did not return calls on a couple of questions we had as we neared our ships sailing.) Our friends were seated upstairs at a table for two, we were seated downstairs at a table for two. The maitre d fixed this for us. Our cabin was 6267. It was very clean, well maintained,  and comfortable. Our room steward introduced himself and was friendly and professional. He addressed my husband and I, everyday,  by our first names, asked how our day was going and offered his assistance if we needed anything. The food in the Normandy was very good. We did notice a longer wait than usual, but our meals were served hot. We Loved Guy's Place and ate there everyday for lunch. The hamburgers and french fries were outstanding! The toppings bar was great. Yummy! The room service was quick, the food was very good. The Day entertainment was just ok...a lot of trivia games. Come on Staff!! We have been on other Carnival ships where the day fun for the passengers was much more creative. We always participate in the extra activities, boring or not. We definitely miss the galley tour, I didn't see it offered. There was a Dr. Seuss parade with the kids. That was something new to us and fun. The Night entertainment was great! We especially enjoyed "88Keys". The male (blond) and female(short blond hair) head singers in the production were phenomenal! I am so bad at remembering names.  We took the  Dolphin Encounter excursion in Roatan. It was really, really fun and informative! I would definitely do this excursion again! (Make sure you wear sunscreen!) There is one complaint I have and it happens on most ships....when we are eating inside in the buffet areas, it would be VERY MUCH APPRECIATED if the passengers enjoying the sun and pool would COVER-UP before walking through. Trust me, there is TMI in the worst of ways going on.....and it doesn't involve "eye candy" (which should also be covered up!). All in all...the cruise was a good one. I would def go again on the Pride. The weather was perfect, the seas were calm, the sky's were blue, what more could you ask for!  BTW...afterthought...the casino was tight, tight, tight!!

p All in all, this was... by HughBriss

Sail date: /
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

p All in all, this was a most enjoyable cruise. Last year I sailed on the Carnival Destiny out of Miami to the Bahamas. The Pride is a much nicer ship (newer class?) than the Destiny. My balcony cabin on the Pride seemed to be a bit larger than my balcony cabin on the Destiny, and the bathroom, for sure, was a bit larger and much more accommodating on the Pride: I could enter and close the bathroom door without contorting my body on the Pride, and the shower had a removable telephone receiver-like shower head which made it so much easier to rinse off. Also, the Pride has a specialty restaurant, David#39;s. I wound up dining four nights at David#39;s, pretty much sampling their excellent, though somewhat limited menu. The cuisine at David#39;s is exceptional, and the presentation of the appetizers and the entrees unique. So many things were outstanding, but among them, I point to the double thick rack of lamb chops (for quality, preparation and presentation) and the lobster bisque (the absolute best that I have ever tasted). One of the reasons for my choosing to dine at David#39;s was that the main dining room, though much brighter and airier than the depressing common areas on the ship (dark, fake Rococo, liberally daubed with Raphaelian reproductions) just didn#39;t compare. The dining room was noisy, and, travelling solo, I was placed at a table with other unaccompanied people, and only two sisters showed up. Add to that, the food, though acceptable, wasn#39;t great, at least the first night. So, I decided that for a little extra money ($30/meal), I could make my cruise so much more memorable by dining elegantly in David#39;s. I also signed up for Chef#39;s Table one night, and, as with the Destiny cruise, Chef#39;s Table is a $200+ experience for a $75 charge (see photos). (OK, so I am a foodie!) The one night that I decided to try As You Wish dining, the hostess in the upper dining room gave me a hard time, insisting that I should go to my assigned table, but I kept insisting even harder that I wished to dine alone that night...finally she gave in, but it did not leave a great impression on me. I was not at all picky about the itinerary, because my pleasure is sitting on my balcony with a good book and an occasional glass of Port (wine) and listening to the waves go by. I also witnessed Venus and Jupiter above a rising crescent moon in the evening sky one night. So, basically, I didn#39;t really care where the ship went. However, my greatest disappointment was that the excursion that I most looked forward to, the Windjammer cruise out of Freeport, was canceled due to insufficient demand. That#39;s the main reason that I did not give five stars. Also, boarding several thousand passangers is a rather arduous experience, though it was done much more expeditiously in Baltimore than in Miami, even though boarding in Baltimore was delayed at least an hour because the ship arrived late from the previous cruise (bad weather). Also, this time, there was a full sit-down meal available in the dining room as opposed to the chaos of the buffets on the Lido Deck on the Destiny. The other great appeal for me was that I could drive from home to Baltimore in less than one hour without speeding one bit. And, parking was available in a lot right at the pier. Would I repeat the cruise next year...very likely, though I would surely jump at it if there were no extra single supplement.

The Bermuda cruise was relatively relaxing and a bit overpriced on the shore excursions by cp3403

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Bermuda

Overpriced on a rusty and dated ship to a great Bermuda destination from my home area of Baltimore. I’ve done it four times and the ship has been going downhill since. If I go with another cruise lines out of Baltimore it will be primarily due to the mechanical condition of the Pride, rust, wear and tear.

Loved everything about this cruise and ship by RavenDarkwing

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Bermuda

I really enjoyed this cruise, the staff were great, the ship was kept clean and tidy, and the food was good. I love Bermuda. I felt very safe there, the people are really nice and friendly, and there is none of the t'shirt, and trinket vendors that pester you to by their items the second you get off ship. I will be going back here again.

Fabulous Fiftieth Anniversary Cruise by Spug51

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Pride / Destination: Caribbean - Bahamas

This was a truly amazing experience. We had some really rough weather our first day at sea but the crew took excellent care of us all. I was impressed with the organization of the staff. Every detail you needed to know was at your fingertips. The Carnival Hub App is so helpful, no need to carry a lot of extra papers. If you had a question any one you asked could help you. I just loved the ports of call and all the activities. I felt no stress on this vacation.
