Review summary

The Carnival Pride is a smaller ship with about 2000 passengers. This was our 7th cruise and our 2nd Carnival cruise. Unfortunately we have been spoiled by the higher quality of Royal Carribean and Celebrity cruise lines and our expectations were too high for the Pride. The first thing I noticed was the lack of antibacterial hand cleaning entering any of the dining areas. It was available on a wall but was definitely not enforced by any staff. The other cruise lines you cannot avoid them even if you tried. 2. Cleanliness of the hand rails and elevator buttons was never seen. 3. As for the food, it was OK. I was shocked that on elegant night the tshirts, jeans and baseball caps on people dining in the Normandy dining room. We were the rare people who dressed in a suit and formal dress. And that  we were expected to pay extra for surf and turf or just a lobster $20 each was shocking! The other cruise lines include these at no charge and unlimited portions can be ordered. What a disappointment.

4. That and the fact that your drink package did not include the daily specialty drink in the complementary monkey head, etc or Half Moon Cay.

5. As for  the room, it was small and even smaller balcony which was suppose to be cleaned 9-noon one day then changed to the next and pretty sure never was cleaned. We had to be out of the room though!

6. The holding of chairs with towels, etc was abundant all week. not enough seats or trash cans on the deck.

7. Kids unattending all night at the pool especially during movie night. Loud and running all over and some even falling. Very dangerous!

8. Our safe broke and was never attended to the rest of the week.

9. David steakhouse amazing service and fabulous food. Finely got my lobster and filet there which was amazing.

10. Disembarkment was soooooslow

Safe was broken by Tuesday and never fixed. Sink needed to be snaked the drain is very slow. Balcony was never cleaned although we had to leave room 2 mornings in a row for cleaning which never happened. The rust stains are still out on balcony.

Maryred I was just going to respond in the same manner and with the same comments. Thanks for saving me the time. I've been on the Pride 3 times and absolutely loved her and will be going on a Journeys cruise on her in January.

I must be very unobservant. Guess I'm having too much fun to notice, or care.

1) Carnival experts it passengers to be adult enough to use the Purell stations on their own (which BTW has been proven not to kill Noro) or wash their hands properly in the adjacent bathroom. 2) I've never not seen general housekeeping cleaning handrails elevator button. If a passenger previous to you left a mess of a public area all you needed to do was report the need of an extra cleaning to the GS desk via any of the multiple house phones. 3) Tastes in food varies my DH always finds the sauces used on eats served RCCL and =X= to be too rich and when ordered plain the meat too dry. Also you obviously did not read the full menu on your 1st Elegant Night, Prime Rib and Lobster Tails are most definitely available at NO up charge and in unlimited quantity (though multiple main course plates are served fresh from the galley 1 at a time). The $20 per platter up charge in the MDR is for Steakhouse Selections and their version of Surf-n-Turf is Filet Mignon and a Full 1.5-2 lb Maine Lobster. 4) And neither does the premium drink package on Royal nor Celebrity cover and souvenir glass drinks. Though you are right that the package is not usable off the ship on the private island but then again it's only $50 compared to RCCL and =X= $80 for the full menu drink package. 5) If that was the case I do hope you broached the subject with deck manager, and the housekeeping manager if he / she di not resolve the issue before having the GS desk withhold you steward team's auto-gratuity. 6 & 7) Seen the same on Royal many times over. Not so common on Celebrity as so few parents take their school aged offspring on =X=. 8) Can not speak to as what the problem w/ your safe was but again if the GS desk did not handle did you escalate the complaint to your deck manager for him / her to have security make an appointment w/ an adult from the cabin to fix it. The ship will not access a safe unless an adult registered to the cabin is present. 9) Will not disagree. 10) Blame that on the Port Authority and Customs Officials as they control the flow on passengers into the terminsl.
