Disappointing Vacation

Sail Date: October 07, 2012

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

We took a 7 day \"Exotic\" Eastern Caribbean out of Baltimore, MD on the Carnival Pride. The ship was huge and the decor was gorgeous. It was very well maintained. We had an extended balcony room on the 8th floor. The Balcony was large enough for both of us to sit in the deck chairs provided and have breakfast. Our room was very nicely laid out. The bathroom was nice sized and we had plenty of closet space.

Pros: The Private Island

Cons: The amt of time in the Ports of Call

Recommends Carnival Pride? Yes!

Ship Quality
We were very pleased with the condition of the ship. Very nicely decorated\, very clean. Layout took a little getting use to. What we liked about being in 8180 was that the food was 1 floor up. What we didn't like was that the Lido deck was 1 floor up as well right above our head and the night of the all night party was pretty rough sleeping because of the boom\, boom\, boom from the music. We also would hear the chairs being moved directly above our heads on our balcony.
Food and Dining
We thought the food was better on Carnival then on RC. Carnival offered more choices and it tasted better. We ordered room service several times just to avoid the rudeness of other passengers. We were so done with all the other passengers by our 5th day. We were very disappointed in the fact that they reserved the \"good\" quality meats/meals for the $35 pp per night specialty Steak House called David's. We had to scrimp for the price of the cruise and then to expect us to pay $70 more for a \"good\" meal that should be offered to all of the paying guests was very infuriating to us. We did not have the same server every night and we ate during the early seating. In the pas this is one of the things that we enjoyed the most was getting to know our servers and that just did not happen on this cruise. We opted to not eat dinner in the dinning room 2 nights because of our dissatisfaction. We had better all around service on our 4 and 5 day cruises.
Cabin / Stateroom
We were very happy with out balcony stateroom.
Service and Staff
We were very disappointed in the staff on this trip. The staff was not smiling. They took out our gratuities automatically so it seemed like the staff was not trying as hard to please you as they were on RC and my other Carnival cruise.
Entertainment
The shows were ok. Not outstanding. Again\, better shows on RC. Better quality of dancers and singers. The show is ok if you are in the middle of the Taj Mahal but if you are on deck 2 the sound is very distorted. We got up and left during the first show because of the sound distortion and I normally love the shows. We missed the second show because of time. We attended the 3rd show and it was very good but we had to get there early for a seat in the middle. We tried to go see one of the comedy shows and the whole comedy club was packed. We eventually found seats along the wall that were sitting on a hill. It was so hot and we were so uncomfortable that we got up and left. The other thing that we did was play bingo. $30 for 3 games of bingo. Everything cost extra and we did not like that. The other activites were geared more towards young partiers and we are not into that scene any more. The ship pushes all of their services on you.
