Horrible Vacation because of the ship! by Enelra

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I am a cruiser for years now. Never want to cruise with Carnival Paradise again!!!!! I never stayed in a worse cabin (R166) and the ship was some what unfriendly. It looked like animals lived in there. I was so disappointed, I almost left the ship before leaving port. The walls and doors of the closet had something dripping down the front of it that looked like someone through up. The phone didnt work to even call the guest services and it was all stickie around the wall and phone where the phone was. Dont know what that was. The wall by the bed looked like dryed blood in a hand print. The furniture was completely worn out and beat up. There was a big wod of GUM stuck to the desk corner where there was a bed. One bed was on the floor! and they excepted my family to see on the floor in this dirty cabin??????????? When I asked about it they told me and I quote "well this is one upper and lower bed". I said "IT'S A MATTRESS ON THE FLOOR!" The material skirt around the other bed was torned apart and riped away from the bed frame. The window was filthy to look out. The Bedroom shower had BLACK mold growing in the tiles. The cabin had to clean it three times before I would even sleep in the cabin. And I felt like I was asking for to much to ask them to please clean this cabin. The cabin was a closet size as well - very small! I wanted to sleep on the deck in a lawn chair rather than sleep in that cabin! DONT BOOK THIS SHIP! The food was below average in the buffet and they kept closing the buffet during the day.I went to the casino, and was watching Roulett to see how it was played in the middle of the afternoon (not many people in the entire casino), the dealer told me to move on if I was not playing. I was just about to buy chips to play. Needless to say, I moved on. Even when we got back to Tampa to get off the ship, the people were just nasty to deal with. The would not even let me stop for a second to give my son his passport, they started yelling at me. There wasn't any other people around so I wasnt holding anybody up but they were on such a power trip! They pointed and said to me nasty "that way to get off the ship!" And I said "THANK GOD!"

Best Vacation Ever ! by Hookedoncruises

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We were impressed with the size of the room we had, plenty of closet space and dresser drawers. A very large window , more than adequate bathroom facilities and plenty of dressing space. For an older ship everything was clean and in very good condition. The crew and staff were fanatastic and by the time we left they seemed more like good friends. The food as very good, we ate in the dining room every night and had lots of fun with our dining companions. They did a wonderful job of pairing us up with people from neighboring states , similar backgrounds and similar age. I could have been very happy to just cruise aboard the ship but the shore excursions were a big bonus. In Grand Cayman we went snorkeling and swimming with the stingrays with Capt. Marvin. They did a great job with this excursion and I highly reccomend them. In Cozumel, we snorkeled with Sand Dollar Sports. What a wonderful bunch of people they turned out to be! They are very profesional, knowledgable and caring, a great excusion for a little bit of money. We plan on taking this same cruise in the future and highly recommend Carnival Cruise Lines.

I was only disappointed when I got to the ship to find out it was not a singles only cruise in which I was to believe it would be until I arrived at the ship, but I made due and enjoyed my first cruise alone, everyone worked so hard to make it an enjoyable cruise and I appreciated it so much. But I had to sit alone at dinnertime while everyone else had partners, that was extremely embarassing for me

Tampa to Cozumel cruise by Jeremy82

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Carnival has a solid reputation of delivering a fun time, on a safe, well designed ship, however, recent news articles are not seeming to prove that out. Whatever the issues are with the safety and maintenance of your ships, those issues needed to be attended to as quickly and thoroughly as possible, not only is this a P.R. nightmare for your company, any diligent company would be concerned about the well being of its clientele. That said, we had a very worthwhile experience on the Paradise cruise. This ship was lovely to look at everywhere; no garish, over the top designs like on so many of Carnival's ships, much more classy. The shows were outstanding, talent top notch, ambience of the ship great, food service the usual for a Carnival cruise, music and comedy acts excellent, cabins quiet and restful, cleanliness of the cabin fine. The service of our steward was very good; the only area we found lacking on the whole cruise was overall friendliness and tip top attitude of all the waitstaff, bar staff, etc. Other Carnivals the staff has been much more personable than this ship. We missed the comraderie built between staff and clients on the other cruises. Luggage and a dining room change went very smooth, and Carnival's embarkation and debarkation procedures have improved with every time we have cruised your line. We had a very enjoyable cruise and hope the problems get worked out soon for your company, as in the past you have provided a reputable vacation for so many people.

My experience was good but could be better by Tpacruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I chose this rating because I think the food quality and variety need to be improved. However I'd like to recognize how nice was the crew line and the Simplicity and cleanness of every place in the cruise. Of course, I'll recommend this cruise to my family and friends if their expectations are not high. Another little thing that could be improved is to make the photos prices more affordable. Maybe by creating some sale packages or giving credit as rewards.

Crew were working machines by vetter2000

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

First of all, this was my first cruise. The crew was just awesome. People like Liter, Reagan, Somalli, Rodney and Viktoria just to name a few. Always friendly, smiling, and hardworking. I've never had better service than what I recieved on this cruise. If the crew wasn't serving someone then they were cleaning. The ship was clean. The room was great for what it was and it was clean and comfortable. The cruise was great too. I would recommend taking an excursion when in port. We didn't, we walked around in Grand Caymen and Cozumel. In Cozumel the merchants could be a little over bearing. Still had a good time in both ports. I would recommend the Carnival Pardise ship!!

paradise carnival by adsimba1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I would give this cruise a c-, My suite was suppose to have a balcony it did not. When I went to check on it they said there were not any available. That was all they had to say, The buffet was mediocore with meals repeated during 5 day cruise. Breakfast was same everyday. Omeletes were offered but always had a very long line. They had Mexican food for Mardi graas it was the worst mexican I ever had. It took 2 days to get an ice bucket in the room. Entertainment was excellent. Shows were very good.

Good cruise overall by fsbobg

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This is my 3rd cruise w/ Carnival and overall, and I enjoyed it again! Everything really was as expected, nothing special or bad at the onset. One thing that my girlfriend and I noticed was the quality of the breakfast eggs - the first 2/3 days they were great, but the following/last days they were absolutely terrible and inedible. The rest of the buffet was good, though, albeit limited sometimes. Besides the complaint about the eggs, the quality of food in the cafeteria and formal dining rooms was good. My girlfriend and I are in our early/mid 20s and we were satisfied with the entertainment overall. We went to a lot of small trivia events, which we enjoyed and just tied to do a little bit of everything. The evening shows were good except for the final one... The last one was somewhat of a raunchy western and a bunch of people (including the 2 of us left). The casino was fun and only a 3% charge to get chips from a card (none if you cash in) As earlier said, it was a good cruise overall. The ship was well kept, the guests weren't rowdy or boring and the crew was friendly. I'd have no hesitation doing it again.

Not my idea of Paradise by islandchic

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I have cruised with Princess, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean in the past. I chose the Carnival Paradise this time because I was looking for a cruise departing from Tampa. Our inside cabin was probably the largest inside cabin of all of the ships we have been on and it was extremely clean. The on board experience is what I felt was lacking. The customer service just was not there. The nightly shows were okay but other cruise lines were great shows. The dining experience was my biggest disappointment. On past cruises the nightly dining room experience was gourmet dining. I got to try new foods. The matre 'd would come to the table at least once during the week and prepare an appetizer or pasta for us. If something like cherries jubilee was on the dessert menu it was made fresh at the table or there would be a waiters parade of Baked Alaska around the dining room. The Paradise dinner menu had things like fried chicken, burgers & fries, comfort foods, etc. They did have things like salmon but it was the worst I have ever had. Another thing that I didn't like about the dining experience was that I felt that they exploited the waiters. Almost every night they were forced to sing or dance for us while they were still trying to deliver dinners/desserts to their tables. I could tell that our waiters were very uncomfortable doing this. I would have rather had good service that force my waiter to sing. We took our 87 year old mother with us and I didn't feel that the ship had enough activities for older people. I was suprised how many children were on board. On other ships they were in the childrens area all day and you rarely saw them. On the Paradise they were running on deck, crowding the pool, and it got pretty noisy in the dining room. Our shore excursions were awesome! We did the Barrier Reef snorkel trip in Grand Cayman. The boat staff and snorkel experience could not have been better. In Cozumel we did the Best 10 of Cozumel bus tour. Our tour guide was one of the best I have ever had on a shore excursion. The experience was both educational and fun. I don't think I would ever choose Carnival Cruise Lines again because of the customer service and the food. I would not hesitate to tell someone to try it for a first time cruise because it was not bad....it just wasn't fantastic or excellent like other cruise lines.

Happy New Year by Lovetoocruise

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This is the secoond consecutive New Year's Eve cruise we have taken on the Carnival Paradise. And honestly, we liked it better the second time around. First, we had snow in the atrium on Jan. 1st, thanks to our cruise director Steve. Steve also entertained us with his classical violin show. We met some interesting people and the weather was perfect. Except for coming into port on on last day. We were delayed six hours due to fog. Never had that happen before. We were able to relax in our state room and of course food was available all day. All in all, it was a great vacation and we are already planning for next year to ring in the new year on a cruise.

Christmas by GolferGal

The cruise was average for the type of ship that you run. The Captain's night was pitiful compared to other cruises I have been on. Entertainment was not entertaining. The staff however was very friendly and performed their duties professionally.

Smoke everywhere and terrible food by jerryreliable

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We have cruised on five other cruise lines. We have never had food this bad. The service was fine, but the food, across the board was terrible. For example, scrambled eggs tasted like the white paste used in kindergarten. Additionally, the ship was very very smoky. Cigarette smoke was everywhere, and the smell stays with you. We have not had this on any other ship. The casino was a fog of smoke. The stage shows were good. The room was fine. On the last sea day, we opted for some sun, but the exhaust stack of the ship had an internal explosion, that showered us with quarter size rust particles, and cold! water. This was our first experience with Carnival and it will be our last. Very disappointed. But if you are a smoker, you might enjoy the ride.

poor customer service by willy90178209

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Carnival Paradise / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The reason I rated my experience as poor was because my wife was not allowed to board even though one of their reps assured me she would be allowed. Carnival ruined my vacation as my 5 year old daughter was without her mom during the cruise. They offer no kind of refund for the additional ticket paid that was npt use because of their incompetence. That is poor customer service. Their unprofessionalism will hunt them as they are not the only cruise company.
