Review summary

Our cruise on the Carnival Paradise was our first ever cruise on any cruise line. In the end, we had a good time, but we both sleep with CPAP machines, and it took over nine very exasperating hours to get the Guest Service staff to take enough interest in our need to plug both of them in with only one electrical outlet in the cabin. Once that issue finally got resolved, we enjoyed the rest of the cruise, especially the shore excursion to the Mayan ruins.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food was very good, and the service in the dining room was good, although the waitress spilled a glass of wine and did not offer to replace it.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Shows were good, and mini golf was good, but the focus seems to be on drinking and gambling, neither of which we are overly fond of. A better balance would help.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Housekeeping and dining room staffs were very friendly. Guest Services staff was more of a dis-service.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Could use a facelift and some modernization.

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
If you don't have a need to plug in more than one device, the cabin is adequate. If you do, better take your own extension cord or power strip.

Pros: Mini golf and shore excursion

Cons: Total lack of concern of the Guest Services staff
