Reminded my daughter of Reno

Sail Date: September 01, 2011

Reviewed: 5 years ago

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Oceanview

Ship was decorated "Vegas" style, a lot of loud colors, lights, and patterns. Not many quiet public areas.

Pros: enormous value

Cons: Lack of information

Recommends Carnival Paradise? No.

Ship Quality
Ship was decorated "Vegas" style, a lot of loud colors, lights, and patterns. Not many quiet public areas, bathrooms tended to get messy and a bit smelly, too many smoking sections within public places.
Food and Dining
Food was average, good portions and selections on menu. Dining room tended to be noisy in a celebratory sort of way. Every dinner time, the wait staff had to do a song or dance-sort of sweet, silly, and undignified, but the kids liked it. Service also tended to be a little slow, but we were always late to the dining room, so tended to catch the staff when they were over busy.
Service and Staff
Very pleasant, accommodating cabin steward, waitstaff in dining room friendly. Other staff seemed rather aloof or disinterested.
Entertainment
A lot to choose from, some silly, some educational, some entertaining. The daily printed schedule rather busy and difficult to dissect.
Children's Programs
Age demographic divisions need some work. 2-5 is not an appropriate combination, as five year olds tend to be in school, better socialized, and more sophisticated than the littler kids. Better if it were 2-4, 5-8, 9-12, etc. Very serious and strict about checking kids in and out, which was reassuring and appreciated for the children's safety.
Cabin / Stateroom
Rather dull, ugly colors, sort of dated. Bed setup was efficient for four, too much extra furniture taking up space. Seems that the life jackets could be stored more effeciently to allow more room in the cabin.
