We have sailed on the Paradise 3x. It originally was smoke free. That was awesome. Most recently we sailed from Longh Beach on a 4 day cruise and ironically cigarette smoke smell came into our stateroom thru the overhead vents and that was very unpleasant. This was our 7th Carnival cruise, we love Carnival and we are senior citizens !!! We felt the staff were not their normal 'friendly" personalities. Most of the time we do a 7 night cruise. This was a 4 night anniversary celebration. The staff seemed distant, disinterested. The ship is great, easy to get around. The food was better than in the past. Our waiter and room steward did a good job but no real friendliness. The Long Beach terminal is awesome. Very efficient and quick, beats the heck out of Miami. Too bad you can't go to the Caribbean from Long Beach !!! We highly recommend Carnival and this 4 day cruise to Catalina and Ensenada is a great quick get away.

Pros: not too big, not too small

Cons: cigarette smell came thru vent system into room

Recommends Carnival Paradise? Yes!
