Never Carnival Again

Sail Date: January 01, 2010

Reviewed: 6 years ago

Traveled As: Singles/Friends

Room Type: Inside

Our cruise was delayed by bad weather...totally understandable! However their lack of communication and insane lines sealed the deal that I will never cruise with Carnival again. We were originally scheduled to board at 2pm and didn't set foot on the ship until 11pm. In the mean time we were in line after line with little or no communication or compensation for the inconvience. We did received a phone call of their delay but were NEVER told to pre-register at the convention center away from the port. We (a group of 11) never spoke to carnival staff about the diversion. We had to wait in multiply lines for over 3 hours!! We were exhausted and hungry and only offered a box sandwich and water. When we arrived on the ship we told we only got a $15 courtesy on our on-board account. This was only a 2 1/2 day cruise. We lost 20% of it in line. I don't even have the energy to critique the awful food. The buffet sucked and that's if you made it within the feeding times. If you didn't eat during the open hours of the restaurant you were out of luck. I even tried to contact room service and had no luck. They didn't even have the room service menu in our room. When i found our steward he pulled one out of his cart. Very suspicious that he had a three-punch hole section that SHOULD have been in the room binder. Yuck. I will stick with NCL.

Pros: room was nice

Cons: food and lack of compensation for a loss of 20% of trip

Recommends Carnival Paradise? No.

Service and Staff
the staff on board did what they were told to say to us. They had zero authority to refund us.
Food and Dining
yuck
Ship Quality
the main dining room had a very fishy smell.
Cabin / Stateroom
Entertainment
not much to do unless you want to get drunk every night.
