Review summary

Overall this was a great 7 day cruise. So glad Carnival sent a big ship to us in Cali. So much better than the little booze cruises they offered before

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Embarkation was a bit slow and confusing, but I attribute it to the Carnival port having to deal with a much larger ship than it is accustomed to and kinks will be worked out

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Main dining was normal from all Carnival ships. In my opinion, it is time to revamp the menus. For those of us that cruise regularly, it gets rather mundane. The specialty restaurants surprised me. The new Bonsai Teppanyaki was actually phenomenal. Cook was highly entertaining and food was some of the best I’ve had at sea. Steakhouse was by far the best I’ve had in the fleet. Service and wine selection was great. Guys pig and anchor was pretty good and priced reasonably.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Generally the same parties, trivia, and events, but overall a great time was had. Plenty of outdoor seating. No problem finding a quiet place to chill. Never seemed crowded.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Was highly disappointed at the main shows. One of the singers was sooo bad, it was almost laughable. Production was good, just not quality performers. Theater is not set up well. Too many poles obstructing the view and difficult for bar service to do an effective job

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Found everyone to be super friendly and eager to serve. Ali the bartender was always around and taking care of us. Aivy in the main dining was a sweetheart. Emma the CD was fun, energetic, and did a good job overall.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Great layout. Impossible to get lost. Everything is where it should be. Being that it is a new ship, there were some glitches, but ship shined like a diamond

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Nice clean room with a balcony. There were a few items that were loose in the room due to it being new, but bed was comfy and I slept like a baby

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Took forever to get off the ship, but once again, I will offer a pass since this ship is so new to Long Beach

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. I'm booked on it soon so I'm trying to get as much info as possible. I was hoping that the menu in the MDR was updated. I am happy to hear that the steakhouse is good. Thank you again for sharing.

Excellent review - I agree: time to change the menus again. We are bored with American table menus.
