Review summary

This cruise was mediocre at best, I will not choose Carnival again.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarkation went relatively quick and easy.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Food was mediocre. Buffet had the same food each day. Dining room food was typically cold and not a lot of variety. Any chicken dish was poor, tasteless and rubbery. Specialty steak house was excellent with an absolute step up in quality, but who wants to spend that much extra every night.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Pools and fitness center were nice. Played one game of miniature golf. Never did see anyone use water slide.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
There wasn't a lot of variety here either. A lot of trivia games and the main entertainment was pretty much the same each night, just different genre of music. Host of entertainment was very good and comedy nights were good.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Service and staff were very friendly and helpful.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Older ship in need of refurbishments. I do believe this was the last sailing for this ship before dry docking for refurbishing.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Size was adequate and there was plenty of storage. Bed was comfortable and cabin was kept clean. We did have to request assistance 3 times with the thermostat, which blew cold air no matter the setting. We finally found a reset button and fixed it ourselves.

Ship tip

Check into other ships. This may be less expensive but paying a little more can provide for a much better experience.

Ports of call

San Diego, California

4 out of 5
No excursion, but San Diego is always fun to visit.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

4 out of 5
This area was fun just to wander on your own, lots of activity and easy to get around.

Mazatlan, Mexico

3 out of 5
Didn't really have a lot for excursions. We left the ship later in the morning and there was only one option for transportation which was $35/pp. Too expensive for not really having any guidance or planned stops, so we went back on the ship. There were no staff around to get any guidance from either.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

4 out of 5
Liked this area the best, very pretty and green. We did go on a sunset sail excursion that was nice and relaxing.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
This was very slow and disorganized. People got very backed up in getting off each floor. Landing areas were full, some couldn't get off elevator and many people pushed through without regard to others waiting. Custom's check was simply looking at your passport.

Sounds like you'd prefer Disney Cruise line. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

Doing your own research on ports really pays off, with websites and apps as this one, why not get more ideas and feedback from people that have been at these ports and read reviews? Hope this helps in your future travels

Same here, we have been very happy with Carnival after 13 cruises. However it's not for everyone
