Review summary

We were with a group of approximately 145 people from Washington State. Most of us were family members of Debbies Dance Studio who performed one afternoon aboard ship, and we had a wonderful time! It was lovely to be part of such a large group aboard, but I still had time to meet several other cruisers, which is always a highlight of any cruise.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very smooth embarkation in Longbeach! Port is easily accessible, luggage was handled well, arrived early and processing was fairly quick...approximately 35-40 minutes from baggage check to boarding.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Nick and Noras Steakhouse the first night was excellent; great service, good surf and turf, and an added bonus of a free bottle of wine. Main dining area had great choices, and our servers were attentive. Kids enjoyed the morning buffet and the late night pizza bar.

JavaBlue Cafe'

5 out of 5

Daily visits for coffee and snacks. The service was great.

Bacchus Dining Room

4 out of 5

The servers performed nightly, and they were hilarious. We had a little difficulty in the dining room on the first night, we reported the problem, and it was quickly rectified. For the rest of the cruise both service and food quality was perfect.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Pools were clean and accessible. Trivia was competitive and the other daily games were enjoyable. Casino is small, and the slots were tight, but I paid for my cruise between bingo and casino winnings, so no complaints there. The late night comedy shows were fun. The Miracle did not have any outdoor movies.

Guest Services / Shore Excursions

5 out of 5

These folks were amazing! The ship had to change course due to storms and we had to skip a port, and stop elsewhere a couple days later. The staff quickly put together alternate excursion packages and were very gracious to all the disappointed guests. I was impressed with how their staff, and the crew, in general, handled the situation.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Found the stage shows poorly designed, below average singers and dancers. However, the highlight of the cruise was a young dance group out of Olympia Washington who performed one time aboard ship. Debbies Dance Group put on a truly exceptional show. They showcased a wide range of dance styles and were very talented. They are not regulars on Carnival, but perform aboard every couple years. If they are aboard when you sail, I highly recommend taking in the show.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
12yo loved the club, enjoyed several activities and had a chance to interact with kids from all over the world.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our room steward provided exceptional service. He was funny and attentive to our needs, and often provided tips and advice. Our group enjoyed the daily towel animals.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Layout is good, and it was easy to traverse and to find your way from one activity to another. However, the style and furnishings were somewhat dated.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Size was adequate, temperature was comfortable and it felt clean. However, I do not like the obstructed view cabin. I roomed alone this trip, and chose a more affordable cabin. I prefer the balcony rooms, but it served the purpose, and you could open the outer door to get some fresh air, and the room was quiet and clean, so no issues.

Ship tip

Late night comedy shows were better than the earlier shows. Though the themes were more adult rated.

Ports of call

Long Beach (Los Angeles), California

5 out of 5
Didn't spend a lot of time here, and it was easy to get to and from the airport. The beautiful Queen Mary was docked just across the way. Next time I will take the time to visit her.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

5 out of 5
Loved Cabo. Spent two days there and visited the port both days. Tender experience was a little wild due to high winds and very high winds. Many of the shore excursions were cancelled or changed the first day due to weather, but that happens, occasionally, and our group just rolled with the changes.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico Did not visit port

Unable to visit PV this trip due to stormy weather.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Very easy. We managed our own bags, and it was fairly quick, probably stood in line about 30 minutes as we disembarked and passed through customs.
