Fun New Year's Cruise

Sail Date: December 26, 2015

Reviewed: 9 months ago

Traveled As: Family w/older children

Room Type: Suite

This cruise was so much fun!  The boat was full - about half the guests were kids.  However, the activities kept the kids busy.  The band was great, and the New Year's party on deck was fantastic.  I just love the Red Frog Pub - what a great addition to this ship!  Service in the dining room was a bit slow, but that was probably due to the ship being so full.  Food was good.  We didn't do any shore excursions this time - just wandered around near the port.  We chose to forego shore excursions in exchange for bigger staterooms - a trade off that we found well worth it!  My kids (finicky teenagers) are asking to go again.

Cabin / Stateroom
LOVED this room! Had a connecting cabin for our teenage boys, and the balcony is absolutely the best in the fleet! No noise from the dining room or from neighboring cabins.

The live band was great. The dancers/singers in the theater were a bit unpredictable. Over-exaggerated gestures that are great for a larger venue looked goofy on a stage that was so close to the seats. Pitch/tune for the female lead vocal was inconsistent - not all songs work with her voice.
Service and Staff
Food and Dining
Dining room staff was good. Dining room bartender never did figure out that we wanted to order drinks with dinner every night. We had to chase him down each night, and were unsuccessful on more than one night. The dining room was so busy that it commonly took 25-30 min between the time our dinner plates were picked up until dessert was served. We gave up if our order had not been taken within 20 min of dinner plates cleared, which happened more than once.
