Review of Alaskan Cruise on Carnival Miracle

Sail Date: May 20, 2014

Room Type: Balcony

My husband and I had never been on a cruise, so we had a few anxious moments before agreeing to take this one. We have nothing to compare ours to. But, going to Alaska was a dream. We so enjoyed the beautiful and peaceful scenery, and the weather was great. The Carnival staff was wonderful. The people on board the ship were friendly and outgoing. We met so many nice people from all over the world. The times of actually embarking and disembarking were very smooth. We enjoyed everything we saw and the excursions we took. However, we don't think we got the best deal for our money.  Other ships which came in to the same ports as ours had gone to at least 1 to 3 more ports than ours within the same number of days. The food, which everyone who cruised before, had raved about, was OK, but not special. Most of the time, in the buffet lines, your food got stone cold by the time you got to sit down and eat it. The days at sea also got boring. Being relatively used to having some sort of responsibilites and schedule, we found there wasn't enough "stuff" to do to keep us busy. In the games which we could participate in, there should have been real prizes given to the winners. The casino was a money pit. About 3 of the shows were really good, but the others could have been much better, ie. funnier. The bed and show seats really hurt my back. They were so hard. The rooms were clean and there was plenty of storage space for personal items and clothes. We enjoyed our balcony, and can't imagine a cruise without at least a window. But, that's our take. So, yes, all in all, there was a lot of good things about our cruise, but some negative things, too.  We would be interested to see how the Carnival line compares to others.

Go the The Baccus Dining Room for breakfast and lunch. It was a good break from the buffets, but still weird.
