A calm cruise during Hurricane season

Sail Date: September 04, 2010

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

We found the decoration on the ship to be quite dark, not romantic-dark, just dark. The decor in the dining room seemed a bit much but some of the artwork was very nice. Enjoyed the Art shows and auction. The entertainment was very good. Was a bit disappointed with the 'meet the crew' evening (not like on Holland America) Was very disappointed with the mini-golf course. The carpet was ripped up on almost every hole and it seemed like nobody really made an effort to fix things up. Food was quite good and our waiter really enjoyed his job.

Pros: the stop at Half Moon Cay - beautiful beaches, nice walks, not crowded

Cons: late dinner seating

Recommends Carnival Miracle? No.

Ship Quality
The ship seemed to be in need of some TLC. You could see carpet stains, scratches on woodwork, some rust spots.

Cabin / Stateroom
This was our first time with an aft cabin and balcony. Great option. You are away from the wind and can see sunsets/sunrises from the same place. The balcony could have been a bit cleaner, though.
Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)
the beach was amazing, very little litter, lots of loungers, umbrellas and the water was so clear. Lunch was okay. We were happy we waited to eat until 1:30 as there were no lineups and still plenty of food.
Grand Turk Island
Liked that we could just walk off the ship and go to the beach. Not the cleanest of beaches, though. Lots of litter and some broken glass, etc. Can't believe that some people just got off the ship and went to Margaritaville and drank and partied for the six hours.
Nassau, Bahamas
Did a small tour on our own in a taxi, half the cost of the ship's tour. Was good to get the highlights and then walk around on our own. Can easily walk around and visit most of the historic sites.
