We cruised on the Carnival Miracle 8/7-8/14. It was our first cruise and we were on the 7th Deck in a cabin with a balcony. The room was comfortable, and our room steward was very attentive. No problems sleeping whatsoever. The food on the cruise is amazing and the dinner wait staff is unbeatable. Service in the dining room for breakfast and lunch was a bit more suspect, but then again they know they are not getting tipped. Biggest gripe is that it seems like every time you turn around someone is trying to get you to buy something. They say that all gratuities are taken care of and then suggest more tipping hoping to play on people`s guilt and give the waiters and steward an extra tip. Staff was not overly friendly, room steward was the only one who went out of his way to say good morning and things like that. Pools were VERY disappointing, they are all tiny and shallow, and are not freshwater, but seawater pools. They all look like kiddie pools. Formal night dress codes were not enforced in the dining room, which was another disappointment. We got dressed up like we were instructed to, only to see people in khakis and polo shirts on a formal night instead of the instructed tux or dark suit. Fitness directors were insulting towards Americans in the seminars I attended. The entertainment was alright. The hypnotist, juggler, and comic Percy Cruz were fantastic, and the musical reviews were high energy, if a bit boring. Seas were calm, but you could feel the boat rock a bit, especially if you tried to run on the 1/15 of a mile "jogging" track, so we quickly gave that up and resigned ourselves to the treadmills. Overall, we enjoyed the cruise and met some very nice people, but soon got tired of feeling like every time we turned around someone was trying to get more money from us. Your cruise fee really only pays for a bed and meals, and the fountain fun card you can buy does not include water. I would definitely bring a few bottles from home for your room, since any drinks you buy are subject to a 15% gratuity. Embarkation and Debarkation were very smooth as well. but I don`t think I`ll cruise with Carnival again.
