Christmas Cruise to the Caribbean

Sail Date: December 23, 2008

Reviewed: 8 years ago

Traveled As: Family (older children)

Room Type: Suite

Ship was the right size, good mix of age groups -- lots of families on this Christmas cruise, which was what we had hoped (and expected) with our two teenagers with us. They met lots of friends and had a good time. The efficiencies and cleanliess of the ship and the crew's attention to detail was impeccable. At one point I (embarrassingly)dropped a dinner plate on the buffet on Lido deck, and it sems that even before the plate hit the ground, there were two or three crew there cleaning it up. All in all, a really great time--- our first cruise and won't be our last!

Pros: Ship, room steward service, cleanliness, efficiency, variety of activites for all

Cons: Main dining room dinner; mediocre food (mostly "warm" never hot); waiter in main dining room

Recommends Carnival Miracle? Yes!

Ship Quality
Food and Dining
Main dining room (Bacchus) was mediocre. Food warm, service fair, our waiter, poor. Given that they are trying to feed 1000 people at the same time, I respected the efficiencies, but we found it more pleasurable to take advantage of other dining venues on 6 of our 8 nights out. The Supper Club (Nick and Noras) was Exceptional (food, ambiance, quality, service) and is worth the $30 pp surcharge. We went twice during our 8 day cruise.
Cabin / Stateroom
Service and Staff
Except our waiter in the Bachhus dining room, who was less than mediocre.
Philipsburg, St. Maarten
Basseterre, St. Kitts
We really enjoyed stolling around this little town...very old, colonial buildings. Make sure you get past the entry port and shop area and get into the old part of town.
