Family Cruise

Sail Date: April 16, 2006

Reviewed: 10 years ago

Traveled As: Family (young children)

Room Type: Balcony

We had a lovely time and did some dancing which would have been my primary choice of cruise activity but the one band that was danceable was primarily a 50's 60's collection of music...would have like a big band option or even maybe a country option.

Pros: Overall sense of relaxation with interesting things to see.

Cons: NOt quite enough opportunities for cheek to cheek dancing

Entertainment
The singing and dancing were excellent. 2 of 3 comedians were quite good. I have never seen a comedian actually die live but pitied the poor woman doing all the fat jokes....just not funny. PLEASE don't subject us to any more IDOL. if you want to go and be embarrased for your ship mates go watch KAraoke.
Children's Programs
My 9 and 11 year old found it as a place to do play station. I would have hoped for more interaction with the other kids and less screen time.
Food and Dining
interesting variety of choices each night. The Jerk pork was awesome and many of the starters were also quite good. Need more vegetables to be served with the meal and the except for the Beef Wellington the quality (tenderness and flavor)of the Beef was a touch disappointing.
Cabin / Stateroom
We were extremely pleased with the size and layout of the cabin and the balcony.
Service and Staff
excellent cabin steward and dining room staff. the social staff seems a bit hokey and the kid's club staff didn't seem as engaged with the kids as might be expected.
Ship Quality
The ship is still quite new and all aspects of the ship reflect the cleanliness and newness even though it is 2 years old..the decor is a bit garish however and some might even find it a bit tacky.
Cozumel, Mexico
We went to Xcaret. Lovely site too much to see and do not enough time to really enjoy it felt rushed.
George Town, Grand Cayman
We went to the Colony Beach club which has seen better days. it was $23 a person but if we had just got off the boat and bought admission there it would have been $10 a person...seems a bit of a steep discrepency with not much to show for the additional $13
Belize City, Belize
Snorkeled off of Goff's cay and a boat. AWESOME REEF. My favorite activity. Would consider going back for jsut a CAY vacation if we didn't have to go through Belize City itself which we went into afterwards for a Lunch at Macy's Cafe. Genuine experience but not for the unadventurous.
