Review summary

Overall it was a nice cruise. It was my grandsons first cruise and he totally enjoyed it. Food was just ok. I think the buffet was better than the dining room. Plenty of activities and entertainment. The cruise director was awesome!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food in the main dining room was ok. Service was slow. All other included food options were good. I didn’t do any specialty dining. My fav was Guys Burgers.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There were plenty of activities. I attended the shows, karaoke, comedy. I brought my 10yr old grandson. He loved the ropes course, putt putt and the basketball court.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The staff was great. Service was a little slow. It can be expected with the number of passengers onboard.

Cabin / Stateroom

I had a balcony cabin above Pig and Anchor. I was a little concerned about noise when I booked. It was nice. Never heard any noise. Cabin was clean. Never met room steward. But I didn’t need anything additional, so that was fine.

Ports of call

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

The island was nice. This was my first tender port. It was total chaos. They gave us paperwork with instructions the night before. Lots of people didn’t read it. So when we docked, everyone was going down to disembark at the same time. Stood in line for around 45 minutes. The people that showed up out of their time range got turned away. If they had followed the instructions, it would’ve been ok. After that experience, I’m not so sure I would do a tender port again.

Grand Turk Island

The beach was beautiful. We also went to Margarittaville. If you go to the beach there was plenty of chairs. My mistake was getting chairs from the first vendor I came across. It was $50 for 2 chairs with umbrellas and Wi-Fi access. When they walked us to the area, the chairs were so beat up, the umbrellas didn’t adjust, so the sun was still in your face. The WiFi only worked if you were right there next to their drink stand. Then the drink stand was chaos. The server was really sweet. The manager or owner was so rude to her. He was all about making the money but his customer service was horrible. So I suggest walking further to get better seating. Margarittavile was nice, it was packed so you had to really wait around for chairs. But the drinks, food and service was top notch. They had music and entertainment.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

I booked a tour excursion with an outside vendor. It was really nice. This was my second visit to Amber Cove. There is lots to do and I would definitely return.
