Review summary

Hello, I’m returning from a 8 day cruise on Carnival Magic, from August 3-11. I wanted to report my worst experienced on this first time cruise with my family. My family and I was in our worst nightmare. My family and I were placed in stateroom 9392. Our stateroom was below the Lido deck (dining room). I could  not understand, why that was anyway. While I was booking the reservation, I clearly stated to the representative, not to place our room near an elevator, dining room, the pool or any heavy traffic area. As a first time cruiser with Carnival, I was under the impression that customer satisfaction was a first priority but I was wrong. We spent 7 days we couldn’t sleep. The amount of noise was so unbearable, that we had to report it to guest services . A man came to inspect the noise. I was told, definitely there’s always a noise in this stateroom, it’s not new. It was so sad to hear that. The day before, our last day 8/10/22, guest services called to offer us some ear plugs and a $150 credit to spend as an insult.  My family and I felt, that we were robbed of our peace. As a nurse working for 2 years during the worst time of covid-19, all my family and I wanted was some getaway time. Some things were great, housekeeping worked so hard. and the entertainment was excellent. We only spent 2hrs in Half Moon because the shuttle had mechanical issues, by the time we got there at 2 PM the day was almost over. The food was somewhat ok. I would like some explanations from Carnival Cruise to better understand the reasons as a costumer, why we were ignored and treated that way.

Food and Dining

The dining room was always a wonderful experience with very kind and helpful waiters. On the other hand, the buffet was subpar yet edible.

Service and Staff

Excellent housekeeping and staff overall. Except for guest services, very unhelpful and inconsiderate.

Ship Quality

Very clean!

Cabin / Stateroom

TERRIBLE cabin! Due to being directly under lido, constant noises all throughout the night. Running, stomping, carts dragging and rolling, etc.

Ship tip

Try to avoid overpacking, just makes all processes longer. Be ready to spend money! Lastly, be ready to practice patience.

We got there so late and didn’t have any time to actually enjoy the island. We docked at 7am and we only reached the island at 2pm. By the time we got there, lunch was already finished. The souvenir shop had an extremely SLOW line due to employees writing everything by hand.

Sorry to read bout negative experience you endured. Unlike others I see you gave the cruise line the benefit of the doubt for providing good customer service and for all we know there probably wasn't any cabins in your cat that were avail..as if you purposely selected that cabin. Thank you for sharing

First time cruisers should learn from this experience. Use a travel agent, or have a Carnival personal vacation planner whom you personally speak with and work with. Letting a cruise line choose a cabin for you is not usually the best way.

Really...you didn't look ahead of...All your fault!

Thank you for taking the time to share your cruise with us. Sorry you got the noisy room. Much better to study the deck plans (they are on here for every ship) and pick you own room.

That's why you should always pick your own room.

I’m sorry you were assigned a bad room location. Not being able to sleep well affects everything you want to enjoy. I hope on your next cruise you are able to choose a quieter room and that you have a much more enjoyable cruise experience. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. 😎🚢☀️🩴🏝🪸🐠🌺

I’ve been on 11 cruises and learned as you did to not get a room under or above and venues. I always book a room between other floors with rooms.

Pre planning is a must. Oops 😬

It’s always better to pick your cabin yourself. Sorry your first cruise wasn’t what you expected!

I was on the same cruise. We used a white noise generator (we always do). I agree customer service desk was really bad. I couldn’t get any email after paying over $100 for “premium” Wi-Fi. After trying for 3 days, the customer service lady said she would process a refund, but shut us off. We could get Apple to Apple texts, so we didn’t want to cut off all communication with family at home. So we stuck it out wasting $100+ dollars. The rest of the cruise was good for me.

Thanks for doing an honest review. The problem with not selecting a room is what you saw, we always pick our room and will not sail that one if we can not.

That really sucks to be stuck in a noisy room, but there's not much guest services can do. That's just the way the ship was built. On every sailing, there will be unlucky people in those rooms. But I'm happy to see that you enjoyed the rest of the ship and didn't give everything a 1-star rating because of the room. For your next cruise, check the deck maps to make sure your room is not in an undesirable location. And pack earplugs just in case. I always do.
