Review summary

Good morning I just recently returned from a Bahamas cruise MAGIC 08/12/2021 - 08/16/2021 BOOKING N67FG0 on the carnival magic and it was absolutely horrible I wanted to leave the ship. I was traveling with my service animal who was put a litter Box on deck 4 where I had absolutely no access to get to the litter Box due to the fact that I'm using a scooter and a wheelchair and there was a large drop to get down to the area where the litter Box was and to get backup that Drop to get back into the boat and I was not able to get to the litter Box causing severe stress on me and my dog. Not only that when we went in to go eat Our assigned table 406 in the Northern Lights was immediately changed and we were put in the corner where our dog was being stepped around and over by waiters and staff due to the fact that I did have a dog they did not want us anywhere into the main area where other people were eating which is discrimination. Even other guests on the ship were complaining that they were discriminating against my dog by putting him in the corner and actually told us they didn't mind if he came with sat at their tables this happened throughout the ship the guests were very appreciative of my dog whereas the dog was discriminated against by carnival cruise lines. We were sat by the kitchen and Waiter podium it was chaos. Even worse the cruise was in my dogs honor for his 5th Birthday. He was so stressed he was depressed and moping. I was in tears on multiple occasions. This was supposed to be a happy, relaxing time. If that wasn't bad enough when I received my fruit on the 1st night for dessert it actually had mold on it I have attached pictures so that you can see those.. On the 3rd day I ordered croissants for breakfast they sent me 4 that were actually burnt and so hard you could hear them cracking when you try to break them open I actually have a video of this happening happening. I will say that my staff for my room rodel was excellent as was Valentin the Maitre D in northern lights dining as well as Olga, Diana Luminita and Chef Petalati. Vanisha and Romana were also very polite from Guest Services. However the cruise was horrible for myself and my travel companion as my dog was completely stressed out the entire trip. I was literally unable to eat due to extreme stress while on board. I also ordered nearly $600 in items like drinks, champagne, wine ultimate getaway ect. I spent hours at guests services on multiple days trying to get the undelivered items and a large amount of time on the phone with them. The experience was not happy.

Can you post the pictures and videos please?

Sorry you did not enjoy your trip.

We have been on a few Carnival sailings with service dogs. Neither they or the owners seemed stressed. I am surprised and sorry your cruise didn’t meet your expectations. Maybe cruising is not for you at this time.

I have seen a few dogs over the years but obviously not a true service animals as what exactly does a yorkie provide? I've never seen a lab or other true service animal.

I agree this doesn’t sound right. If the maitre d was so great than why didn’t you have a better experience in the dining room? No cruise history, no photos. Not buying it. Are you looking for a refund?

We’ve been on 10 cruises and have never seen a live dog or cat on a cruise. The whole thing doesn’t sound right and you didn’t attach any pictures or video. Would love to see them. Why in the world would anyone think a cruise is a good birthday forward a dog???

Really a dog on a cruise??? Bad idea for every one

If you really want to honour a dog on his birthday, buy him a treat and a new toy, play with him and let him go run about with other dogs, that’s what we’ll do in a few weeks for our dog’s first birthday. It’s not wine and champagne and dining out in restaurants on a cruise ship but he will get to sniff other dogs butts which he seems to prefer

Sorry you had a bad experience, however I 💯% agree with RetiredRay. Something doesn’t quite pass the smell test with this review. You show zero cruise history? I’m sorry but experienced cruisers I don’t think are going to give weight to this individual experience. In 100% of any cruises we have experienced- the dining room is very accommodating. If something isn’t right they do their best to make you happy every time. I would think ship safety practices were 100% appropriate in dining room of moving your seating assignment to avoid a potential trip hazard for someone stepping on or tripping over your pet. The ship protected both cruisers & your beloved pet from how it is described. Avoiding a potential trip hazard in the dining room is not discriminatory. This review gave me anxiety thinking of the staff on the ship trying to make your experience as perfect as they could. Life is what we make of it. The glass is either half full or half empty. ❤️

Another 0 cruiser. Two things make me disbelieve this review. You were put in a corner for two reasons. 1. To get the dog out of the way, yet the crew was walking in the corner? and 2. There are folks that are allergic to dogs (only saw one person that requested to be moved in the few times a dog was in the dining room corner). The other item is the food. If you did get food that bad, the Maitre’D would have a screaming fit at the staff and you would get all sorts of comps. Happened to us once, just a minor glitch that I reported and had replaced, but he was all over it even though I said “Not a problem”, and we found a nice plate of quality chocolates and an apology in our room that night after the show.

Sorry you had a bad time....I would have to agree that a cruise is not appropriate for a dog. Your dog would be happy celebrating his B day on land as long as he was with you.

DebandMarkC    3 years ago

Of course the dog was stressed out. I’ve had dogs all my life and not one of them would ever use a litter box.

daisydoozy    3 years ago

Cruising is totally inappropriate for dogs. Now that you know that I hope you will never cruise again.

Curt34    3 years ago

Thanks for the review. Sorry the cruise did not meet yours and your dog’s expectations.

cbyron3    3 years ago

I am sure nobody is hoping you won't cruise again more than the staff and crew. What in the world would make someone think that a cruise is a good vacation treat for a dog?

I'm sorry you had this experience.

Sorry you had a bad experience. Sounds like cruising probably isn’t for you.
