Review summary

While we had many disappointments on this ship, we still made the best of it and had a wonderful time. I'll never sail the Magic again but the ports were all fun and I'd definitely do this itinerary again!

Embarkation

1 out of 5
stood in the hot Miami sun without sunscreen for over 3 1/2 hours with little information, waiting for prior cruise passengers to debark.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Food was ok, service was terrible, MDR was clean but air didn't work where we sat (aft window, blazing sun)

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Had a great time at Karaoke, Ocean Camp, waterslides, pools.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Just ok. Singing wasn't great, but average.

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
Best part of the cruise. The kids loved the staff and activities at Camp Ocean. Absolutely perfect.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
Steward was often on break when we asked for ice, though our room was kept clean. The people on our stewards team were always busy and working hard to make our rooms clean. MDR team was terrible. Really nice people, but didn't work as a team, took 45 minutes or more for drinks to arrive, wrong food was brought, charged for drinks we didn't have resulting in almost daily needing to go to Guest Services to have charges removed.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Musty and sewage smells in elevator areas and hallways, rugs stained, rusty railings/balcony areas, sewer smell on Serenity deck. Leaks from ceiling in Lido marketplace where we were sitting, leaks from ceiling in front of Camp Ocean, leaks from ceiling while waiting for pizza. Chipped paint and splatters on balcony, polyurethane on white railings by wood stairs out on the pool decks. No care or concern for appearance. Layout was fine.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The cabin was lovely. Clean, comfortable, the size was fine. The balcony had paint splatters and rust spots but you can't beat the sunrise! The air worked great in our cabin. We were right above the Red Frog Pub, and they did Karaoke most afternoons. I'm a fan, but the speakers were terrible so it sounded like everyone was gargling gravel the whole time. Also, we were just slightly right of the 5th deck smoking section, so we often smelled cigarettes on our balcony. Major bummer!!

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

1 out of 5
Unorganized, when we were finally called for boarding there was mass chaos to get into the terminal. I'm not sure whose fault that was... Carnival or the Port.

George Town, Grand Cayman

5 out of 5
Loved Royal Palms Beach Club. Rented a Cabana for the day and played in the water and sand sipping on cocktails!!

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

5 out of 5
Walked to the beach area and rented 2 chairs with an umbrella. Had a perfect day at the beach and then a nice stroll around the port before getting back on the ship. Loved Roatan!

Belize City, Belize

4 out of 5
We didn't do an excursion, just walked around the port and had a snack at one of the restaurants. Not a very clean or interesting port. We did always feel safe. Would definitely do an excursion if we ever go back to Belize.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
LOVED Cozumel. Did the Sharks and Rays excursion. Fun, informative and well run. The port is beautiful, clean, upscale and fun to be in. We went to Pancho's Backyard and had delicious food and drinks. Can't wait to go back to Cozumel to explore more!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Super easy (except impossible to get an elevator so we had to walk our luggage down from the 7th floor because we needed to debark for early flights). So much better than our embarkation.

Pancho,s back yard is one of the. Dry best in Cozumel. Been there many times and always a great place to hang and listen to the marimba players entertaining

This kind of thing could happen on any ship. It didn't happen bc it was the Magic.
