A "met my expectations" cruise

Sail Date: May 07, 2016

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Balcony

The Carnival Magic is a nice ship.  The food was good - not great.  The staff was friendly, although you could tell some of them struggled with having to speak and smile .  Our balcony stateroom was comfortable and was kept clean and orderly. Our room steward was illusive - we didn't meet him until three days into the cruise.  The entertainment was good.  Unfortunately, they don't have a show every night.  One night was a complete bust with an illusionist.  The next night was a different illusionist and the show was very impressive.  The casino was packed virtually all of the time largely due to a slots tournament.  No provision was made for the number of machines taken out of service for the tournament - which left fewer machines available for play. All in all, a nice cruise which did not exceed our expectations but did not disappoint us either.

Cabin / Stateroom
Great location of the cabin. It was very convenient to everything. The only negative (and this was a BIG one) is that it was right next to a door, so every time a cart went over the threshold, it made a noise. For the first day, we thought someone was knocking at our door and then figured out what it was. We grew immune to the noise until the last night. When they were pulling the carts full of luggage across the threshold, it was so loud!
Embarkation and Disembarkation
The disembarkation still needs to be improved upon. Self assist should be leaving the ship ahead of the relaxed disembarkation folks.
Ship Quality
The availability of trash receptacles were few and far between. People chose to drop their trash on the floor rather than find somewhere to put it. Trash was even put in people's mail boxes outside their stateroom door! The layout of the ship is very easy to remember and navigate through.

Kudos to Guys Burger Joint. It was the best burger I've had on any cruise ship or cruise line!
