Balcony cabin was really nice. Cabin steward was excellent. Location of our cabin (midship on Deck 8) was perfect. Self-serve ice cream was creamy and delicious. Staff overall very friendly, with special kudos to Mark Q on the entertainment staff -- he's a keeper!
Air quality in the casino was terrible. I've never been on a cruise ship that was so smoky. My husband has asthma, and he couldn't stay in the casino with me for more than a few minutes at a time. They must do something about ventilation.
Food quality was just average. Coffee in the Lido was way too strong -- we had to add hot water (which ran out now and then - frustrating). Lido selections were odd at lunch and dinner. Hotdogs were great, hamburgers dry.
There were a lot of kids on board this trip which was odd since school just started up again. Normally, that would be fine as we all love kids, but there were some probably ages 10-15 who were unsupervised, rowdy and rude. There was running and noise in our hallway into the early morning hours; all buttons pushed on the elevators (I witnessed this myself and heard it from five other passengers at different times); crowding into elevators in front of handicapped people; one of them broke off the ice cream handle; groups of kids sitting in the hallway late at night. Surely Carnival has rules about unsupervised kids in dining areas, on elevators and running in the hallways? If so, apparently nobody enforced them.
