Review summary

Start my review with the good.

Met a great bunch of people. There were no divisions in race or religion. EVERYONE was great! The staff was friendly and was there with answers to all our questions. Loved the towel animals every night in our room. Food was good, some great, some not so great, but you will never be hungry or thirsty.

Loved movie night out by the pool on the big screen*. Dancing in the Club “Vibe” and at the Ocean Club. Had some very funny Comedians at the Comedy Club.

Now the not so good.

The Cruse Director Eric was a rude pompous ***. Interrupted the movie* we were watching, right in the most important part without an apology when confronted the next day, actually was rude about it. Carnival if he's the best you got to offer your guest, might need to rethink it.

Coffee, we are coffee drinking people, WORST COFFEE EVER!! Carnival Magic, CLEAN THE POTS! Bitter, bitter, left a bad taste after every cup, no excuse for it!

Loved the Photos, but HATE the price. $22 for 8x10, $13 & $17 for 5x7...REALLY?! Yes. The waste of photos is RIDICULOUS! Cut back on waste and stupid photos (people have their own cameras for those, then you can RUDUCE the price of the photos by 75%! Organize and put photos on CDs and sell for $50, then 95% of people will by it! You might actually turn a profit on it.

Unless your a drunk, skip the unlimited drink cards. Not worth the extra money.

Skip the casino, only .0001% pay out (that's probably being generous).

Best excursion was in Roatan on the Jolly Roger and they took photos on the Catamaran and guess what? They put them on their facebook page for FREE!! You heard me FREE!!! Other Excursions could learn from them!!

Overall fun trip and hope to do it again!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Too may things to do and not enough time!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Overall lots of fun things to do. Loved the Comedy Club and Dance Club.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone, except Cruise Director Eric, was polite and Helpful. Loved listening to Brick talk and he was very friendly to all!

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Heard the MAGIC was remodeled, Wasn't very evident, looked worn in some areas.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Good access to elevators and far enough away from the noise. Great view of all the ports. Would stay in this cabin again.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

3 out of 5
Galveston needs to clean up the area around the port. They should earn enough revenue from parking and taxes to clean up and revamp the area around the port.

Cozumel, Mexico

1 out of 5
Hot, shop people very pushy, garbbed my sister by the arm and dragged us into shop then closed the door. refused to buy from anyone in Cozumel. Will skip this port on future trips, even if I have to stay on ship.

Belize City, Belize

5 out of 5
New to Cruise lines, people are friendly and grateful for the additional revenue to their country.

Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

5 out of 5
Best out of all excursions. People friendly and not pushy. Would love to travel just to this area.

it's really weird that you had negative things to say about Eric... He was great on our cruise a couple of weeks ago and when people review that usually speak very highly of him and how fun he is. This must have been an off week for him or something.

the cruise directors have all been at a conference. maybe this guy was a temp.

Yes, the photos are expensive, but there's no sitting fee, no appoint ment necessary, and you aren't locked into some kind of package or minimum required purchase, like you would for a shoreside photographer. So, it comes out about the same, price wise.

I had a different cruise director on our cruise last summer. He was super nice and very energetic, BUT, I agree it's VERY annoying when they interrupt everything with their announcements. It's like they think the whole ship, no matter what were involved in, needs to hear every little thing they have to say. Very annoying indeed!

I have not been on Carnival but I couldn't agree more about the photo prices! I have only bought one EVER because of the high prices. I would buy lots if they were less (even digital).

Good to know. Thanks for the info.

Agree with you with cruise director. Compared to the ones I've met before, he deserves a -5 and should be replaced. You could tell that it was a difficult time for him when he had to be pleasant.
